KTM I hear is coming out with a 350cc Freeride that is 220lbs and should be 50 state legal. I probably just dreamed the whole thing.
I've wanted this bike (Suzuki TU250) for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, it's a 49-state bike and I can't buy it in California. I love the retro styling and the simplicity of it. It's reminiscent of bikes from the 60's and 70's that made me the motorcycle fan I am. Even though I've had bigger and faster bikes in the past, there is no bike I want more now. So I will continue to hold out hope that one day I can buy one here.
Buy a used one from a neighboring state and take it home.
I too have wanted a tu250x and almost bought one, but I have too many bikes already. Wanted to try to make a scrambler out of it.
The Suzuki rep at last year's international motorcycle show in northern California couldn't be bothered with questions about whether the TU250 would come to California. He was rude, and in fact, walked away. He may not even known about the bike, I don't know. I don't know what Suzuki's problem is, there are near a dozen of very off brand Chinese scooters that pass California emissions. I wonder how the questions will go at this year's show.
All this talk of unavailable TU250s put me in mind of an oldie but goodie and cheap to boot. Now I want another one!
I had a xb12stt and loved it wish I still had it but I think this would be as good and then some. Now I just have to sell my 1997 fxdl and find one.
thanks for posting this....pretty much validates my recent purchase.
That's what I'd like today too.. and most of the days.. even if I have a 650cc
bike now, and a 125cc scooter.
I want the new Versys 1000 too, I think they've nailed it!
That's the one. They don't make it in that color any more, so maybe I'll go with the green or whatever it is they make next, but I love the way this bike looks in orange!
ABS, selectable power modes, selectable traction control, that big smooth liter 4 from the Z1000SX. Didn't bother with 19 or 21 inch wheels, just a big capable standard. You can bet they'll undercut the other offerings by a couple grand as well.
One of these:
With a sidecar.
If but one bike could sit next to my favorite bike, my WR250R, it would be this one.... I'll never give up adventure riding for street ever..and I like my Versys don't bet me wrong.. but this thing is just sweet. And I'd want it to stay this clean at all times.. haha!
This makes a gooood background on the puter :)
That Ducati is gorgeous. It is now my computer background.
