Thanks for the report Rick... My parts are still sitting in the box waiting for a little warmer weather.

I swapped sprockets, new chain and chain slider. Has anyone ever had issues with DID quality? I snapped the master link when I was riveting the pins. Waiting on a new one now before I can ride. 525VMX model.

I woke her up from her winter sleep and gave her a good makeover. Ready to serve until the 1290 arrive.

Did anyone swap out the garbagey push button that comes with the KTM heated seat for the 1190? If so, would love to see pictures and where you got your bits and pieces.

IMO much better than the OEM mirrors, since I no longer have to look at my own shoulders (even with the mirrors folded in).

You got some big damn shoulders in that case, because it is a non-issue for me.

There was not much interesting going on along my upper arms and shoulders either, so I have also mounted the Rottweiler/CRG Arrow kit to keep an eye on general traffic, police, ambulances and stuff instead. Just remember that in these mirrors the objects really are closer than they appear to be!
Your experience with the TT screen is interesting. I have been experimenting with spacers on my OEM SA screen without much success and just bought a Wunderlich deflector in an attempt to solve the turbulence and noise problem. I have not tried it yet. If the TT screen really works that is a lot better. How tall are you?

According to the OM, we are supposed to disconnect the battery before charging. Seems like most dealers ignore this advice so... how important is it?

I don't know how important it is, but there's a reason for it. The chances for something happening might be at a minimum, but when it's disconnected the chances for something happening is zero. So I disconnected mine.

My ctek came with a pigtail so I don't need to lift the seat never mind disconnect the battery. They are tender chargers and not much use if the battery needs to be out since it won't go flat out the bike anyway unless it's out for a long time. Plenty bike manufacturers sell their own branded chargers that plug into the acc socket. Most of them are just rebadged chargers like BMW use optimate.

You pay your money you make your choice.

Mine works via the cigarette lighter socket.
No need to disconnect anything and then having to reset you dash etc.
Waste of time, Ctek is very well protected.

    Why do OM recommend that?
I can think of a few reasons.
    1. Bad charger giving to high voltage. No issue with a good charger.
1.5 Bad charger giving voltage spikes ("unclean voltage"). No issue with a good charger, and the battery will also swallow some spikes.
    2. Corrosion due to small electrical currents (I have a boat as well). No issue with an isolated charger (I think all CTEC and many other high end chargers are OK in this regard, but it was a few years ago I checked). Some inmates seem to go down (in the water) with their bikes...;)
    3. Discharge, then charge. Well this might be an issue. I don't know what would happen. I don't know if chargers usually do that. Perhaps some can do it if you manually tell it to.

If I were to use my CTEC on the bike, I would never disconnect the battery (number 3 is not supported by my charger).

How are you repurposing the OEM mirror stalks? What is going in to replace the original mirrors, if anything?
