FWIW: I've finally gotten a chance to push the bike a bit and I'm really digging the 20mm offset in the triples. It is amazing how "super enduro" the adventure feels with this one modification.. even with the extra weight.

Got the chance to put the super moto wheels on my 450. Now all I need is some fresh blacktop, and curves.

Those wheels look pretty nice. Did you just lace the rims up to your stock hubs?

That tread pattern fools a lot of people.

Think of it this way. Unlike the rear tire which needs maximum traction while accelerating, the front tire needs maximum water displacement when braking.. with the pattern that direction.. as you are hard on the brakes it'll squirt the water out the sides (the stretch forces on the rubber are in the opposite direction)..

    ...or something :D

We're heading out on a 5 day 1000 mile offroad ride in NW Colorado / Utah... a ride I named the "Dinosaur Run" as I designed it so we do a loop around Dinosaur National Monument. I put the route together specifically with 9X0's in mind. There are 25 of us going total.. of which 7 of us are on LC8's. Should be a hoot! :ricky

Thanks. A friend came over and we were staring at my KTM in the garage and talking about bikes and tires and I showed him my crash bars on the tanks. So I grabbed a pry bar and did just what you said. Worked out great. Thanks. That should give me enough room so that I don't wear a hole in my tank.

I feel my KTM is a little overkill around him. He has a Honda Nighthawk 750 that he has been riding all over the western US. He decided one day to start using it as a dual sport. So he put dual sport tires on it so that he had better traction on the 4 wheeler trails and such that he wanted to explore.

Yesterday I spooned on a Mefo Super Explorer and a MT-21. I also changed the oil/filters and installed the Black Dog skidplate & kevlar case protection.

Today I 'll be finishing up the mounts so that I can use my Mermites on the Gobi pannier racks.
