take this however you want, but my dad had a set on his f800gs. he has just about worn them out and will be replaceing them this week while hes on a trip..

he hated them.. didnt have a good thing to say about them despite all the good reviews.

wear life was poor at best.

he also had noticeable front end shimmy with them.

Just to confuse you now, great tyre, good mileage, good handling, really suit the adventure.

See, told you you'd be confused.

    Let's add more confusion...

I don't like them. Good mileage and fine off road but that's the only positive thing I can say.
Once they start to wear out they become square, like a car tire, and they perform accordingly (ehm, never tried a car tire but should feel like this...right?), giving me a funny handling.
Went back to Scorpion and the 990's great handling is back.

i have the k60 scout on the back of the 990 and have had good luck with the tire. i have over 5000km now and they are less than half gone so i should be able to get close to 12000km before they are done. i ride with a couple of others who have them on there bike and everyone has had good luck with them. For a 50/50 tire i found them quite predictable and reasonable traction off road. i didnt like the look of the front though thought it was a bit light so i have it paired with a dunlop d606.

I went back to a 908. I roasted a k60 after 2500 miles, I was expecting quite a bit more based on reviews I had read on the forum.
They were great on the pavement, good in gravel, sucked in wet dirt or mud.
I only ran the rear, Mt21 in the front.
Riding style has everything to do with tire life, What one rider thinks is awesome someone else will think is so so.
I would give it a try it, might be a great tire for you.

I'm at over 5k miles on my rear one and about 4k on the front. I can drag pegs in the twisties and they do okay in the dirt. The front is done at this point but I have been happy with the set overall

Frog uk is right, everyone has differing views and everyone will be right for their application.

Personally on our RTW trip we are running the rear 150/70 - 18 on our SE, we love the seemingly good puncture resistance and long wear, we have 12000 km on it now and it will see us to Bogota from Guatemala.

You certainly wouldn't take it out in the mud like this tho.

EVERY tire IS a compromise between traction and longevity.

I'm running one on the front of my 990. Currently I have about 4500 miles, there is some minor cupping but I would expect to easily get another 2000 miles out of it. On the road it's a little more noisy than the stock Scorpion but it rides and grips fine. It's good in hard pack dirt and rocks, but I do not like it in loose dirt, sand or gravel. So overall a good tire, but when it wears out I'll probably try something else.

I tried one on the 990.

After 500 miles I took it off and gave it away to someone that needed a tire.

I was running the 140 not the 150 so dont know if that makes a difference on the 18" rim.

    What it did.

    Nothing, absolutely nothing well.

In the hardpack all it did was spin, in the soft, mud, sand, gravel etc etc. It NEVER provided any drive. Would step out under power in unexpected manners. Just never tracked straight.

After one long weekend in DV where I rode in all condition except snow I was done.

For ME this tire sucked ass.

Even for a 50/50 tire I expect it to provide some sort of drive under some conditions. Other than pavement that was never the case.

I am going back to the 908 for long distance trips, using the Pirelle Ralley for local rides. I have another knobby on the way to try but it is not here yet so no verdict on that.

I would say based on other peoples reviews of the 150 if I were going on a long trip with mostly pavement and dirt fire-road type riding then would consider this tire again (in the 150 size) for its longevity.

I also tried difference pressures etc before binning it. Just never worked for my style of riding I guess.

For those that didn't like the Heidenau K60 rear tire, did you like the Mefo Super Exploer better for 50/50 on & off road usage?

Really? I wore the 908RR out in under 1400 miles. And damned near a slick at that point.

I use the TKC 80's front and back for all conditions riding. It's versatile for me. No vibration. Good in gravel, dirt, so so in sand... I like it on the Tarmac. I run it with high pressure and only 1 pinch flat over many many years...which was my fault running low pressure on a pavement return.

I love the rear tire on pavement when it's really worn down. I get between 2-3k miles and I always find them on sale.

that's my impression as well ...does nothing well.. feels insecure in hard cornering on the road and crosswinds. sucks in sand, barely grabs off road .. doesn't do anything good..

90%+ of rubber remaining and thinking of taking off and replacing with TKC 80's or something else.

On my 06 Scrambler i got 10,000 miles on mine.
My brother ran Kenda Big Blox, he got the same miles on his V7
I liked the tires for how and where I ride.
