It is much older than the house it sits next to, turn of last century is my best guess. I've been thinking to sacrifice a very little bit of floor space and put up interior walls of 2x4 and white painted 1/2" plywood. That'll give me more options for hanging tools and brighten the place up a bit.

    I found the expensive surprise!

Burned exhaust valve: Upper left head.

It isn't visibly eroded, but it isn't liquid-tight when I put some Kerosene in the passageway. The other three exhaust and all four intake valves are fine.

    Bugger.

Put a touratech rack on my Pelican 1550 because I couldn't stand to see it sit on a shelf any longer.

Putting the windscreen back on it, since it's getting cooler, around 50F in the morning and evening commute.

I've hit a stopping point with the left head, the burned valve needs to be replaced. I've lined up the work and parts, but that won't start until Monday. In the meantime, I can finish reassembling the GS and get the right head's valve clearances and rocker endplay set. The plan is to have the bike ready to run when the left head gets back at the end of the week, all I'll have to do is install it, the head guard, crashbar and skidplate.

I brought her home, brand new.

You know going from an 09 GSA to the 12 GSA I figured it would be identical and i would feel right at home.... but it felt more like hopping in bed with your girlfriends identical twin sister. Everything looked the same, and yet it felt weird, all new and different. :rofl :evil

I've got some re-farkeling and re-learning to do.
