Figured out what it was. Somehow the "Use RichText Editor" option got turned off in my preferences.

Another thing...for a while I was getting other people's alerts.

Now I'm not getting all of my alerts. This is one example - your quote never alerted me. that's why my response is so late.

Just today, at least 2 inmates quoted me - and although I have my account preferences set to alert me, it never did for those posts. It is inconsistent.

I've never had my account set to alert for quoted replies, but a friend does, and she's had inconsistent results ever since the new format change 2.5 years ago...oh well.

For some reason, the sorta hashtag thing @Roadrunner seems to work though :)
    (that was a test)

I just found the DV Noobs rally thread and 'watched' it. I'm OK with clicking on it once and then my next click being on page 2, whether I read page one or not. However, I'm not ok with my second click being on page 44 (of sixty something). WTF is going on? :scratch This has happened repeatedly on numerous threads. I click once on page one, click 'watch thread' and subsequent clicks dump me in mid thread.

I've found that to be true for as long as I've been on ADV. Hate it too.

Yup...I think I whinged about this very thing a few pages back.

We assume the system is actually keeping track of what's been read by each account, but it seems like it instead looks at the last time the thread's been opened and whisks the account to the first post after that time. Or something.

But it doesn't actually keep track of what's been viewed. Makes reading old, long-winded ride reports a pain in the tuchus. (Had to look that up, I've only heard the word used...)

There is a time limit to what the system keeps track of. I am not sure what the time is or if it is user defined. I think the default is 30 days. So, if you click on an older thread to watch, it will show on your control panel as a watched thread with unread posts. If the thread is older than 30 days, it will take you to the newest post from 30 days ago (if that is the default, I think that it is though...)

I thought there was a time limit on notifications as I've experienced this problem. I've made All Watched Threads a tab on my homepage so I can easily pick the thread up again.

Have you ever used the “mark all threads read” feature?

Never have, I never know when I'll get interested in one and don't want it showing 'read'.

In the last few weeks it has become almost impossible to type from mobile on this site . Exclusively here

I even changed keyboards. It's complete cluster.

    Why?

    Chrome

Seems ok for me—iPhone SE, iOS 11.2.5, Safari.

Not using any keyboards, other than what’s provided onscreen with iOS.

It miraculously improved two or three days ago. I didn't change anything, didn't even reboot the phone. Suddenly writing is normal again.

New Macbook, newest version of Firefox and it's same-same except that now deleting typed text, hitting 'delete draft' button, clearing history/cache/cookies does not necessarily delete the draft.

The only reliable method has been to post and subsequently delete the post.

    What's the deal ?

I've noticed this, too, on my computer. The way that works on my Mac/Firefox is to delete the draft, hit 'refresh' and close the website.

That used to work; I have done so recently and draft remains.

While I do find the 'save draft' feature useful for email accounts, it seems unnecessary here.

I first delete all the words in the post, using back space, or highlight and delete, then click on the disk icon and select delete draft, and it seems to work on my windows PC running Chrome or iPhone using Safari.
