    I want a naked streetbike/sport tourer. I want you FF's opinions.

My search began when I rode my buddy's honda CB700SC, loved the look, the sound, the comfy seat and upright position, but it has a rear drum and skittish steering. not to mention the body style I like was only made from 84-86. so the next bike I found was the venerable kawi ZRX1200. love it.
this then led to people telling me about the yama FZ. which then led to the SV, but I dont really dig the style. also mentioned was the bandit, which some of em look ok, and some are hideous..

and just the other day I found out about the Honda 919, which I think is supremely awesome, but it definitely doesnt have as many fanatic fans as the zrex or fz..

    so, ADVers, what say ye?:ear

what are your likes, dont likes, have, had, want etc.

Haven't we done this a few times? Anyway... for me K1200r. It sports, it tours, it handles BMW luggage.

Toss up.. I loved my Monster, it was a great bike and they are lots of fun. Tuono was a blast though it was a bit.. intense. I'm kinda curious about the speed triple and lust after a street triple R.

I just picked up a nice 08 FZ1 to complement my 03 SV1000, have not put enough miles on the FZ to knock the SV off of its pedestal, but it may be a close call after this weekend. The SV does everything well so it will be a tough one to beat.

For a sporty standard from your list, I'd say the ZRX. Been seriously considering one myself although I think I'm going in an entirely different direction due to different current desires/lust in a bike. Of the Japanese standards though, for my money, this would be the bike. I love the retro superbike styling and the power, torque, handling, reliability and ergos are all good. Add an aftermarket seat and some soft luggage and you're good to go for a fairly low intro price. If I weren't so hung up on something totally useless like a tuber Buell, this would be the bike I'd be looking for. :thumb

Loved my 2000 ZRX enough to keep it 11 years and 74,000 miles. Finally decided to sell it after getting a 2007 FZ6. Fuel injection, longer valve adjustment intervals (26000 vs 6500 miles), almost as much power, much lighter and better handling. Sometimes I do miss the pure torque and power of the REX, but very very rarely. I NEVER miss the extra weight. Nothing really wrong with the ZRX, but the FZ6 is addition by subtraction in many ways IMO.

    This.

I'm having a hard time not pulling off the chrome lights and Al rearsets to go to the powder coater during the great weather. This winter that dude is getting a bunch of my cash.

    Awesome bike!

I got my FZ6 a year ago and love it. my dad rides my bike instead of his BMW while im at school and he cant get enough. If you want the extra power though i'd go for the FZ1. and the FZ1 doesn't have the annoying undertail exhaust. the undertail looks pretty cool but gets in the way of a lot of things.
