I am planning to keep my Lowrider and hope to ride it a bit more this year than I have the past couple. There are a lot of bikes in this thread that I wish I had the opportunity to ride, but I'm satisfied for now with these two.

+1 for the street triple R. compliments my 1200GS perfectly. very hard to decide which to ride without a specific destination in mind (around town or track=street triple R, multi-day distance with dirt=1200GS).
both awesome bikes. (father-in-law compliments his 1200GS with a goldwing!)

Husky TE450 for hard core trail riding.....really great bike, set up right.

Hate to say it, but I just don't have the heart to take my new triple black GS into the woods, way too purdy.......maybe next year :lol3

It's funny cause I had an 09' GSA I had no qualms at all beating the crap out of on a regular basis.

My complimentary bikes, other than the GSA, in order of use are a Triumph Sprint ST1050, KTM 525EXC, K1200GT, GSXR1000.

If you are thinking about the speed triple you might consider the Sprint ST. I found that even on the shorter canyon rides, wind protection makes a big difference. Triumph lengthened the wheelbase last year or so, and call it a Sprint GT. I think the ST is better for canyons. 3/4 of the time I ride the GSA.

I keep a Suzuki RMZ250 for fun in the dirt and days at the track, but I'd choose a naked bike with a 17" front wheel for short twisty rides:

    K1200S sorted for touring.

Also the TDM850 which isn't much of a complementary bike, but I just can't bring myself to ditch it.

My GS -is- my touring bike. My babe says its the most comfortable bike she's ever ridden pillon on, and I find it to be a fantastic street carver and dirt-road tacker.

My Ural Gear up is the play bike. Not as practical, reliable, and surely not a engineering marvel. It also allows me to ride in the bitter cold winters we get up here in the frozen tundra.

"I am confused by the guy who has the KLR 650 and an F650GS..."

    Understandable.
I keep the KLR at a home in Arizona that is sort of in the boonies...a mile or so of dirt/gravel/sand to get there from the paved road. I keep the F650GS twin at my home in So. California and use it to commute to work and blast around on weekends. The R1200GS is sometimes in AZ and sometimes in CA and I use it for touring.

... A friend gave me his KLR for the summer. It wouldn't run so he said that if I got it going I could use it until the fall. My partners and I got her running in a few hours and I learned to really enjoy that beast. I hated to give it back, so now I'm on a search for one of my own.
