My boss claims there's nowhere good to ride in Florida. I suspect he's wrong ... but is he?

I assume there must be some good dual sport stuff, if you don't mind sand, but what about street riding?

Where do you go to find the good dual sport stuff?

Disclaimer: I am from Canada and want to spend some time down in FLA riding this winter ... like, say, a month. Not riding non-stop every day, but cruising around finding interesting roads and places. But is that just a pipe dream?

Lake Wales area has a few hills. You're better off looking for sand, mud, whoops, woods, water, and wildlife in most of FL though...OR hook up with some local riders to show you around. Riding in winter down here is beautiful if you're from up north. Bring a telescoping fishing rod and some binoculars for birdwatching. Sailboats, kayaks, jetskis, and surfboards can be found for rent. Be careful of FL drivers! Traffic is light if you avoid cities, but drivers here are idiots.

There is no sand in Florida.

Who ever said that doesn't know what they are talking about or they ride in PASCO.

I see you are on a dr so that probably means you are interested nice dirt roads, not too technical?

Check out the southern leg of this trip. It is about 2 hours. You can link this up with the western panhandle track that I have seen on here a few times, then if you want to travel further east you can track through Osceola National Forest near Lake City.

I ran this loop yesterday, nothing too challenging. The canopy roads and the wild life were the best part. If it has not rained in a while, the sand can be a little fun.

Not sure what bike I'll do it on - am seriously considering a DR200, to save on gas. I have access to a lot of good street bikes through work, so I'd rather have something smaller for off-road.

So are you saying you can bring a good street bike and a dirt bike with you from Canada (your not riding a Dr200 from Canada, noway) and you have a month to knock around in the South?
Do you have some other reason to come to FL...family , friend, event?
If not, I can tell you that your boss is basically right, look at the map where N. GA, TN and NC come together and slam on the brakes hard...spend all your time there for a month. If you rode everyday, you can't ride all the good roads there in a month.
If good riding for you is good weather in Jan/Feb then come on down.
