That's awesome! Exactly what I needed. Thanks Alacrity and 150ron. My MSR bars have a cross bar, would that get in the way?

    Thanks errybody!

you can get a bracket from trailtech, or make your own, very easy, its a great system.

Bikeneil, i too did not like the stock taillight on the xt250, so went with the acerbis unit.

cleaned it up alot i think.

I originally changed out my rear tail light for this LED one,

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Led-Tail-st...ies&hash=item564a4a93d7&vxp=mtr#ht_1435wt_952

heres a pic of what that looked like

But in all honesty, it did not give off enough light, and the rough off roading made it stop working after about a month, so i switched to the acerbis dual sport unit and have been very happy with it, its very bright.

i also made all my turn signals front/rear running lights too, just to be seen better in the dark.

Older pic I wish they looked like that now. Been great tho I might get 3k outta them. 2k outta the OEM before swap - about half done so I kept them. Just too much mud here for the Chengs tho, and we ride mostlly dirt.

Cant say enough good about Acerbis - the DS LED lamp I swapped in bolted up like factory _ used the tail to mount a strip LED for the plate light - been beat to hell, works like a champ. The factory bit it in the first hour in the dirt.

A fairer pic of the XT This AM coming back from the farm - she's a trooper :clap Hangs with my Dizzer mostly, more than hangs in the woods. I'm sixty pounds up - so I'll blame that :lol3

I am new to the XT250 world (had an XT225 a few years back) and I am planning on some upgrades in the way of adding an electrical connection for my Droid, I plan to use a GPS Tracking App. This will make it easier for my spouse to have a view of where I am as I do mostly woods and trail riding. She worries that I will fall and or be broken down somewhere (She bases this on some past experiences:eek1).
I had a Pigtail connection already installed, it's a standard 2 line plug, but it had no weatherproof cover and or Fuse in it. So, the following are items that I will likely be using.

I'll report back when I have it all installed.... :1drink

Foamy, I had almost that exact setup on my 250. Be sure to check out dualsportmaps.com. It has a tracking component (not sure how it works to be honest, I have a spot that's probably easier for my wife) and it's developed by a fellow ADVer so it offers a bunch of other cool things that you will find useful.

Hey all. anyone know where I can find used parts for an 84? Looking for white tank (metal or plastic), white side panels and a few other nick knacks.

    Cheers

I put a seat concepts kit on the mighty xt and spent 6 hours on it today. I rode forest roads and jeep trails from Heber to Coalville. Wow, what an improvement. Now I sit on my butt instead of my tailbone. Highly recommended. I ordered the standard but they sent the grippy/carbonfiber one. It's very sticky.

Almost home, I downshifted from 5 to 4 on the nhighway and heard a loud CRACK. Downshifting became difficult the rest of the way home. I never could get it into 2nd or lower. When I got home I found that my chain was loose and the sprocket cover was shattered. Removed the cover and tightened the chain and it seems okay now, so I guess the chain broke it and a piece of the plastic cover was just jamming up the linkage. Since I need a new one now, does anybody know of a cool aftermarket sprocket cover for the xt250? -al

Al, I LOVED the seat concepts setup on my XT. Was a major improvement.

Zeta Racing makes one that should fit the XT:

    http://www.zeta-racing.com/body_guard/drive_cover/index.html

Click the application button to see the part numbers for the Tricker, XT, and Serow250. Unfortunately, it doesn't cross reference with any other bikes sold in the US, so it might be a little bit of work to get a hold of one.

I have been away a couple of years from Bikes, my last bike was an XT225, maybe my skills have deteriorated.. I think it may also be the tires, I was in red mud (not heavy) today and I could barely keep the bike from slipping out from under me, even under power. I'm thinking I absolutely have to get rid of these Cheng Shin CRAP stock tires. They also cause front end wobble very badly at about 60MPH + (speedo indicated). I assume its the tires causing the wobble, I have to pull back on the bars and thigh grip the tank to keep it in check.

I had Kenda K-760's on my last bike and while they were noisy on the pavement, they were awesome across all terrain.
Anyone know what kenda tire sizes would fit best, I remember that on the XT225, they were tight, but very doable.

Link to sizes where I purchased my last set === KENDA

    Thanks,
    Foamy -- still pondering tires

hi foam, i just put a 4.60-18 rear shinko 244 on the rear and it fit great, still plenty of room all around, next time ill get the 5.10-18, the stock front is a 2.75-21, but others have put on a 3.00-21 and it fits fine.

the shinkos are great, they are a 50/50 tire.

been testing them out on the trails, they do just fine, great on the road too, i imagine the kendas you are looking it will be even better for the trails

Hey, anybody know what size dirt tires can you run on the front and still keep the little fender thing on? I am looking to go to a dirt tire on mine.

    Thanks
