Not true. My delaer said while ordering that he had to keep one as a demo for a while. NM is probably too far.

I don't do test rides. Liability insurance is outrages. I still order demos but I just sell them as new bikes :evil

The dealer here in Las Vegas took my name and number, said they'll call me for a test ride as soon as they get one assembled, as they had just arrived a few days ago in the crates. We'll see....

test road one the other day here in tucson. wasn't an R but no biggie. just walked in and said i want a test ride, they copied my license and made me sign a waiver, then said have fun.

all in all a nice bike. the engine is the best part. the rest i could care less about. don't think i will be trading in the 990 any time soon.

Same as laramie in the above post, walked into Marietta Motorsports (north of Atlanta) spoke with a salesman, Ivan, and he copied my license, I signed a waiver and took the standard out for a 30 minute ride around Dobbins Air Force Reserve base.
He actually called me about two weeks later to let me know that the had an R in and to come in and try that one. I went by and spoke with him, but he said the R might be sold. I told him I appreciated his letting me know.
As a consumer, this is how I buy motorcycles. A quick demo ride, great customer contact and follow up, and a fair price for the bike. :D

    Laramie,

What's the name of the dealer? I'd rather give them my money than a dealer that doesn't offer test rides should I decide to buy.

I just bought one. I guess I am crazy like that, but I missed all the KTM Factory demo's and out in California all the bikes are sold. So rather then wait until April, I just bought one. I figure if I really really hate it, I will sell it after a year. But for now I am on cloud 9 with buyers bliss. Bike arrives next week, I will let you know how it goes. It boils down to I am tired of waiting to get a new bike, 1-2 years thinking about it, I finally just pulled the trigger.:rofl:deal:1drink

A friend of mine rode one at the dealer demo in Austria last fall and loved it. Based on his opinion I picked up my 1190 R yesterday. Hopefully I will get to take it for a short blast after work tonight?

This bike seems perfect on paper except maybe chain drive but I like the weight savings. Hopefully will get some comparison reviews for offroad use between my current bike1200gs and this one. My bike is a big fat f'er. I know they won't let people test off road. I CANT wait to take one out for a spin!

Only one ktm dealer in town. With that said, I would not really recommend buying from them. If you do you will pay full price. I did buy my '12 - 990R from them but that was because I thought i'd never see another one around and I did not want to be a test dummy for the new 1190.

But incase u still interrested, the name is Performance Cycle.

Sorry your local dealer doesn't offer a test ride. I'm lucky that both my local dealers have 1190 demo's and offer them up for a demo ride.
Good luck with getting more that a 'sit on one'
