    Today was a great day.

Last night I decided to ride to a meeting I had near Raymond b/c it had been a while since I rode the area around Rodney, MS and I was itching to go. My meeting worked out as I had hoped, so I no longer need to sell my bike :clap and I had from Noon til 5pm to ride.

Originally I had hoped to get Ug (from the MS Tag-O-Rama thread) but after the meeting I checked in and found out Reddick had already moved him. Made no diference, I was aimed in that direction.

No Ug, but a great place to ride. Don't let the "Road Closed to Thru Traffic" on Shaifer rd stop you. The bridge is open and the ride is great (just look out for the mud, ruts and downed trees).

Had to move this one to proceed. This is a steep hill, as you can tell by the washouts.

    Made it to Rodney

What do you mean no gas
    [IMG]

As you will see in some of the next pics, you have to watch out on the bridges around these parts.

So I left Rodney and headed down Noble Swamp rd. It turned into less than a road,
    [IMG]

    I soon found out why.
Now had someone been ther with me this would have merely slowed me down. I didn't want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere with no phone service and no houses for miles (atleast not yet).

So after backtracking 5 or 6 miles, I found another route and was headed south again.

I was enjoying life, with Toby Keith singing about smokin with Willie, then a curve and I thought, "wow that dirt was loose" and then felt it again. I thought, "surely not here in the middle of nowhere..." But it was.

So I pull out the Blackberry, no service, I was going to call my wife and tell her I would be late. Lucky I carry my tools with me everywhere. Only one thing to do.

So it took me about an hour from off to back on. I was so glad it was a cool day and I was in the shade.

If you are putting together a tool kit, this is the piece you don't want to forget. A buddy of mine found these and bought 2 of them and gave me one (well, he thinks I'm gonna pay for it at some point, but I think he gave it to me) and it was the first time I used it. No scraped knuckles and no cussing about not being able to get the valve stem in place.

Bike all back together and I was ready to roll. I may need a manicure when I get home.

From there it was a mad dash home as I had plans for 6:00 and I still needed to get home and get cleaned up and dressed.

All in all a great ride.

Where did he get the valve stem guide tool? That is definitely a source of frustration for me when I change tires.

I'll get the link form the guy who bought them. He lurks here all the time, but has yet to sign up and post. I'll post it up when I get it.

FWIW, Whitehorse has the same do-dad for a few bucks cheaper. :deal Yes I'm a cheapskate, I'd buy a KLR but I'm too cheap... They also have lots of other dual sport accesories, parts, and books for a good price.

BTW, I'm game for a tech day. I have been thinking about the sad reality that I will be stranded if I get a flat.

Great areas. I did a route a couple years ago starting near the beginning of the Pearl and zig-zaged crossing every (open) bridge crossing the Pearl to the southern end. It was a great day of riding and a bunch of nice bridges. You are right about a whole new world of side roads. Amazing what is out there if we just take time to look.

Here are a few pics from that ride.

I don't know if this qualifies for this thread since I am not on my bike and not in MS, but tomorrow morning after breakfast I hope to find my way to Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum and checkout the 1000+ bikes on display... :clap
