Very good...but actually moves Mexico down on list as alwasys can do later. Priority is countries that are closing trails.

Is it Baja that is best? Is it safe in Mexico?

Baja is desert dualsport bliss. Is Mex safe? Sometimes yes, sometimes no, just like any other place on earth. Depends on where the crime is happening most heavily, obviously, but crime can and does happen even in Mexico's usually "safe" locations. The USA is a very safe country, and Canada is a very safe country, and Norway is a very safe country, but even in these places people get robbed and murdered sometimes. Mexico is a place like any other place in such regards.

As far as genuine adventure goes, in my opinion Mex is certainly more "real" than either the USA or Canada, and that's specifically because it's still a developing country, with all the grease and grime and unpleasantness and potential danger that being a developing country entails. But it's the foods, people, weather, and situations with which you are not comfortable that make for authentic adventure. The USA and Canada most certainly offer real adventure, but if you're coming to North America for the "most real" of real adventure, then go to Mexico and let yourself get into situations that make you squirm a bit. Adventure is only really adventure when there's potential for mishap and danger and even bodily harm. Norway is a gorgeous place, mi amigo, but adventurous it is definitely not--specifically because it's such a civil and cultured and safe place. GO. TO. MEXICO!

I assure you that even if you skip the USA and Canada and spend all your time in Mexico you will still have the grandest riding adventure that your pleasant, safe, civil, and cultured Norwegian mind can dream of. :thumb

Yes, Mexico sounds adventure-ish both regarding riding and culture...on my (growing) list :2guns:topes
