Well, the hospital won't do anything for Oz, they wouldn't give him antibiotics or anything, simply referred him to a dentist... which is only open M-F. Awesome. Well, guess we'll enjoy the rainbows until then...

There was one old woman in a wheelchair moaning and screaming in pain for like half an hour while I was there. You'd think they'd at least give her some painkillers but no. The ER wasn't even that busy, maybe a dozen people, at a large facility. Granted, I don't know her situation, but there was a woman whose baby had pneumonia who was waiting for hours with us too.

Hopefully Oz doesn't get meningitis or whatever, the infected tooth is on the upper jaw. The dentist he saw briefly earlier said that he thought it was infected and suggested that they'd give him a course of antibiotics to reduce the swelling and wait a week before doing anything about extracting the tooth itself. We went to the hospital because the dentist wanted payment upfront, while the hospital will take payments later.

Maybe we should just get some antibiotics at a feed store or something. The healthcare system in this country is a goddamn joke, but I don't want to start another debate in this thread about it.

    That 'grader' .. yep

Used to keep washboard from happening. Tends to scatter stones all over the place (if you come across a recently treated section).

Here in OZ cheap people use old tractor tyres to do the same job - bit of chain through some holes and tow it behind on the tow bar every fortnight or so. If you do it often enough you can make a 'road' out of nothing.

    ---------------------
Good luck with the teeth there ... most places the 'health system' looks after the body, at least to the keep it alive and out of too much pain stage. But there is little though to dental health. Maybe another trip to Mexico?

Feyala, when you get to my house my neighbor to the east is Dr. Roddy Scarborough, DDS.
Tell Roddy to xray your teeth and your friends teeth and pull as many as he
    recommends.

Tell Roddy to hand deliver the bill to my house and i will pay everything.
Stay at my house until you are ready to ride.
    Please, no more tooth complaints.
I am working in Louisiana right now and I am not sure when I will be home.

Holy crap man, that is an amazing offer! We will definitely take you up on it when we visit! :eek1 :raabia:raabia:raabia You are an angel! Oz is incredibly grateful and would be willing to help out in whatever way he can. I'll keep you posted via PM when we get to your state, we have been going really slow.

We're still in Texas, been hanging out at the Rainbow gathering for the last week. Definitely some good times! I've met a lot of great people. The cops were apparently expecting over a thousand people here, but it's been a pretty small gathering, maybe 60 at most, so there has been, shall we say, excessive enforcement. It's all good though. We might head out tomorrow, depending on the weather, if it's pouring again, we might just stay put another day or two.

The healthcare system might be a wagon missing a wheel rolling speedily downhill, but, with folks like LSU Tiger around there may yet be hope.Thank you for your generosity, sir.

Another option is to run down to the border and get the teeth fixed in Mexico, like this guy --> LINK

The Mexican dentists on the border seem to be pretty good, lots of experience. They do a lot of business and have to keep their reputation clean to stay in business since a lot of it is word of mouth.

    I second this option.
Had too since I'm the author of 1500 miles to the dentist. And I'm happy with my outcome. Figure about $.33 to the dollar on costs.
Oh, have your passport ready. You can get into Mexico without one getting back into the U.S. without one is something I don't want to try.

The Rainbow family is a good group of people, alternative ideas are hard for many to grasp, work for possessions or freedom that's everyone's choice, and Feyala I prefer your choice, you and OZ should melt right into the Rainbow community.Relax, partake, and enjoy!!

Politics are divisive.:deal Maybe if there is ever an update to the format you could add a "like-dislike" button and that might be enough to keep the politics.

Anyhow, this is a good RR and a excellent site-thanks all! And it was heart warming to read the response from the guy from Mississippi offering to help with the potentially life threatening tooth problem.

Hey Fey, It was great to meet you and Oz !!! You both are great and I had lots of fun talking to you both. Thanks!!

I can't wait to hear more from the road! After reading about to page 20 I have to second the notion of you writing a couple of free-lance articles. I have enjoyed your company, your conversations, humor, and now your writing!! Keep in touch !!
