I was actually thinking about you too yesterday, was wondering how things were going. :ear Life treating you well? Are you going to be doing any more travels on the bike or have you settled down (on purpose or reluctantly) for the time being?

Still very much :lurk :lurk for whatever you have in store or have been up to lately!! :thumb

Does she carry a phone, or have an email that she checks regularly?

    Anyone have any contact information?

I have her number, but the last time I sent her a message she didn't reply, so it might be an obsolete number. I"ll try again

Hey! Still in Portland, still doing art. Not much has changed.

Art isn't paying much yet (but it is starting to!) so I don't think I'd be able to budget wise... Canada has a hate-on for my freewheeling ways too so I know I'd be stopped at the border for a not-so-random check and would either need to prove steady employment or a several thousand-dollar bankroll for them to let me in.

I wish I could though! That sounds like a blast!

Things have been going pretty slowly, but I am moving in the right direction. I spent this last week designing myself a logo and creating an Etsy store which I haven't yet announced, but I already got my first customer, so that's an ego boost!

I do plan on doing more travels on the bike, but I don't think I'll be going very far this summer. I want to turn my art into a business that I can sustain myself with, so I am no longer beholden to other people for my income. With the way the economy is right now, seeing so many of my friends without work, and knowing that if I spend a few months at a job to save up money, I am not gaining anything more permanent, it feels like a good time to reinvest in myself and my own skills and create something I can take with me anywhere.

Sorry about that! I've got a number of very large projects which are taking up a significant amount of time, so I haven't had much space for small stuff in my schedule. I've been working hard to try to turn a profit, so not much time for personal art either. This will change once I get those things out of the way. :)

I'm still at the same number (though I'd rather not post it publically), I did get your text, but when I checked them it was two in the morning and I didn't want to disturb your sleep. Sorry for not replying!

I miss them pretty fiercely. There will be more, don't worry! :clap

Investing in Self is always a good thing. Even should you be barely able to make ends meet, you'll be doing so with complete autonomy. That's worth a lot.

Seriously. I'll work twice as hard for half the pay as long as I know I'm the one profiting from my efforts. I'll have job security as much as the market will bear, I'll be able to change direction if I feel the need to, take some time off, or hell I could even work from a foreign country without running afoul of their employment laws.

I can be myself, and not have to lie about my "five year plan" to people who don't understand my lifestyle and never will.

Congrats on your success! It's rough out there, but I'm pretty optimistic. Time will tell!

Thanks for the concern! I feel connected to you guys too. I haven't been posting much because I want to have more "substance" to offer you all, but haven't had time to sit down and write. Things should relax some in the next months, I've got a post halfway done, but we'll see. Maybe I'll even get to go outside sometime! :rofl

    Stay strange! :thumb

The value of this simply cannot be emphasized enough. Having your revenue 100% geographically independent is empowering. I love knowing that I can pack my laptop and take my livelihood with me. I haven't completely been able to shake off having to make client visits, but that day will come. :D

    Keep on keeping on.

I missed out on all the fun and excitement while it was going on. I enjoyed reading this report and the pix. :thumb If you get back on the road, I'll be here to read about it. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
