I searched this thread with no luck on what horn upgrade to use. I am thinking probably Stebel Nautilus but can anyone give me some guidance on horns in general? I have to have a better horn but looks like the horn I mentioned is not the most compact but may be the best with 139db rating.

    TIA

    Hi TenCup

There's lots in here already on the Nautilus compact - there's also a version that's split into two parts to make it easier to mount on the Old Pig. Some folks have had succeess by placing in the Goldwing unit in place of the Beemer's rather sucky stock unit.

We've all probably hit the horn to wake up some dumb ass, half asleep driver, only to wither at the measly wimper, the stock unit squeeks out

Won't be long till someone kicks you in the shins and asks you to use the search function (a culture thing round here - don't take it personally)

If you try the search function and put the little +sign right in front of terms like +stebel +compact ..... and even +harness, you'll be reading about horns - and how to mount them to the GS for about three hours. :lol3

good luck - and please come back tell us what you found out,

    cheers - Bull

Do you have ESA on your bike? If you do, it may require some "creative mounting".

I'm also considering the Nautilus as the stock horn IS a bit anemic!

Fiamm horns. Used on eBay. But do not enter "Fiamm" enter "Volvo" or "Saab". They used Fiamm horns as standard. The Fiamm name draws bidders on eBay.

Sure, I found a location in front of the shock that would not even impact the canister. Hope these pictures are good enough, hard to really get in there to take really good one.

Also I just tapped into the stock horn wires to trigger the relay and left the stock horn hooked up. Works like a charm.

Just got back from a 1500 mile trip down Route 66 out West. My new horn came in handy! Two cars blocking both lanes of the interstate and a short blast from the Nautilus and they promptly gave way. They never would have heard my stock horn!!

I have the Nautilus Compact mounted up above my Ohlins Mechatronic ESA shock system on the front with no problems at all on or off road. My horn gets a lot of use while working professional bike races as a Photo-Moto, TV Moto or Marshal.

Awesome, same bike, same setup, even the same use actually. Got any pics? Where did you buy, what gear did you need to install? Trying to get away without extra wiring, but I think you need dedicated power, and can't just use the horn circuit?
