By the way, are there any good mounting options for lights on a regular GS, that don't require the upper crash bars? Somewhere near the indicators would be good I reckon.

That was a case of me needing to google before I asked I think ;) Thanks for the links! I am creeping ever closer to placing an order for the Rallye... only concern is the cost, and the thought of taking what in Norway is a $34k bike off road... but I am good at ignoring such issues! No point with money if you don't spend it ;)

I did seriously consider OEM farkles for my GS, but ended up not getting a single OEM accessory. You can get more quality for less money on the aftermarket.

That SW-Motech mount looks great, just what I am looking for! Man the amount of farkles available for the GS is great... reason enough to get one really ;) Now that mount, a set of rigid industries dually side shooter lights with blue covers and the hex ezcan with strobing function should get me noticed fairly quickly...!

I just installed the HexEzcan with the Sideshooters and they do dim. Although, I plan on leaving them on at 100% and the strobe functions still work just fine. I have the amber covers on mine to keep me outta trouble :-)

Cool, thanks for the feedback kuyaed33! Getting ready to pull the trigger on the Rallye next week, the after market support for the GS is a major upside :)

Someone else posted about the SW Motech lightbar. I've been very happy with mine---solid as a rock. You can choose to mount the light on top, or like me, on the underside of the lightbar.

Just to conclude this thread, I ended up avoiding BMW OEM stuff entirely, and went for the following setup:

    SW-Motech:
    Crash Bars
    Cylinder Head Guard
    Skid Plate
    Sidestand Foot Extension
    Light mount

    Barkbusters:
    Storm Handguards

    Bumot:
    40L Panniers and racks
    40L Liners

Not decided which lights to get yet, but the summer season is approaching here in Norway and it barely gets dark until later in August, so I have plenty of time to figure that bit out ;)

what does the "OEM" Mean... is this a generic reference like if its not the actual BMW manufacturer
then any other company would be OEM? What is it , i see many people reference OEM products but I'm not quite sure what it means
