Iif you listen to the F5 crew , you better put a Roto Pak on it .
all I nee is 150 miles out of a gas tank after that your are just carrying to much weight in fuel for the type of riding I like to do. Not to mention your range is always determined by the lowest common denominator.

I doubt fornication will get you anywhere. However, be able to ride like Curt Caselli or some other guys I'm watching every night on the NBC sports channel might get you a seat on one.
The debate in the big dakar thread is that the Honda does not have
enough fuel capacity .
Honda builds cars and generic bikes,not likely to be selling Rally Replicas anytime soon.
Maybe paint up one of their scooter framed NC700X models to look like a rally bike.
It looks like it only has 3 fuel tanks, so I can see how they would need more. :huh

To be honest, I think you would be better of with a CRF with one of the other kits on it (Mecasytems or HT), a WR kitted with a J-vo kit or even a KTM450r.

Exactly. What's the point? ... unless you have the speed and skill to make it work the way it's designed to work. Why bother. Better off staying with your DR650 if you like to do bike miles on the cheap. That's what I do. I used to race ... but can no longer do that. I still have fun ... and my bike NEVER breaks down.
It's going to take Honda a few years and lots of rallies worldwide to catch up to KTM in this sort of competition. But they can do it if the money is there ... and if the big boys at Honda stay with it.
Once Yamaha and Honda get up to speed it might not be so good for KTM and BMW(Husky). BMW can spend their way to success ... but KTM? now in the hands of Bajai, cannot for do this for long. But Honda won't crush them ... they need them to be in the market.
I would not be surprised to see Honda produce a "wanna be" road legal repli-racer copy of the rally racer.
I'm sure this first racer is primitive and flawed .... and I doubt Honda put everything they have into it. They never want to come on too strong. They need the competition to survive ... only to show the world how superior they are ... when they really want to be superior.
The wanna-be 6-speed with a fairing and large fuel capacity would be of interest to many. This Honda Dakar effort hits at that possibility.

Funny site, if not some KTM-envy blowhard then some other blowhard lecturing someone...guys all over this site use race bikes for ADV travel, so what, not the right brand...?:huh
Honda has already done it, competitors in Dakar in the top positions, right from the start. When Honda gets the riders in line, domination may follow.

I've always said that Honda should make an Adventure bike out of the XRR engine, which is the best engine that Honda ever produced. A 6-speed tranny, E-start and modern suspension and brakes would be a huge start.
"FHF": Former Honda Faithful; Those of us that realize(d) that Honda's glory days are well past them and that the company is ran by Bean Counters, Lawyers and "Brand Managers" and have moved on to other marques and no longer have garages, sheds or shops full of Red.
In my case the Honda quad has been replaced with a Can-Am, my Honda dirt bike has been replaced with a KTM and then a Husqvarna, SWMBO Honda dirt bike has been replaced with a TM and my beloved VFR 800 was replaced with a Ninja 1000. The little, little bastards XR 100 is getting replaced with a Yamaha TTR 230 and my Honda inverter genset has been replaced by a Yamaha.
In all the cases when looking at the replacement models for the Hondas replacing a Honda with another Honda was going to leave us with a vehicle that was any / some of or all of the following:
Overpriced (compared to similar models from other manufacturers), antiquated (in the case of their quads and dirt bikes still running carbs), not available in Honda's lineup (TM EN144) or that had really strayed from their previous models (VFR 800 to VFR 1200).
The fit and finish on their newer stuff just does not seem to be near what it was and to qualify this statement in the past two years I have bought a new quad, two new dirt bikes, a 650 class dual sport, a Ninja 1000 and a 3kw inverter genset.
DAMN! I will never own a KTM, that is the 5th KTM I've seen broken like that. Imagine getting up from your spill, walk back to your bike and you see this? instant heart break!
I'm guessing English is not your first language, so you can be forgiven for the grammatical errors, but seriously, KTM trolls have been done so many times before and it just isn't funny anymore.
If you do get a bite, it will just be from somebody who is bored, or sees an easy opportunity to make a n00b look like an complete idiot.
Half the time the people who will reply don't own a KTM.
So please, do everyone a favor, and just give it away now.
Oh and I do think it's good that you can post in a forum that is predominantly using a language that isn't your native one, it is more than most of us can do, but please use your talent for decent posts, and not mindless dribble.

The funny thing about this photo is the head tube is still on the bike. Looks like someone fucked up a head bearing maintenance routine or is just clueless. Totally KTM's fault.
Yeah that happens all the time. Ive welded my KTM's frame back together so many times its ridiculous.
