I am seriously considering buying a used 2014 F150 XLT Supercrew 4X4 with the 3.5 Ecoboost V6. Has 48000 miles on it. Pretty nicely equipped but not overdone. Mostly wondering how the drivetrain and overall build quality has been for you. The 2014 is the last year for the steel body.

    Do it.
Our 12 has been very good to date with 115,000 km on it. Just stay away from the forums, they're full of reliability horror stories that are put up by trolls and whiners (IMO).
You are looking at a Ford not a Jeep or Land Rover.

I own exactly what you're looking at. Mine is a Super Crew, 4x4 XLT, with leather (if you wanna call it that), center console, tow package, 3.73s, etc. Ive been averaging about 17-18mpg total, but I don't step on it too much. The only problem Ive had so far was for an airbag sensor, which just had a bad plug under the seat. Other than that, it's been solid. My truck has 44k miles on it. I bought it brand new in the spring of 2015 when the aluminum trucks came out. Sticker was 49k. I got it for 31k OTD (including interest).

You got a great deal on that truck at $31k out the door. Used they are worth around $27-28k right now.

I've had a '13 FX4 with the 3.5EB and 3:73 gears and a '16 Lariat FX4 with 3:31 gears, both great trucks. The older truck pulled out of the hole harder than the new truck, it would idle up hills which was cool, but the new truck gets substantially better mileage that the old one, and still manages to yank our 7000lb holiday trailer around very nicely.

I have a 2013 supercrew, it's awesome. Only issue I have is the navigation system isn't as user friendly as I would like. My phone is still better. I have 64,000 miles still pulls strong, and will hit 100 mph in a blink of an eye. The 4 x 4 system has never failed me. Great truck.

I also own a '14 F150 Ecoboost. 29,XXX no complaints. Better ride, faster and less road/wind noise then my wife's Acura TL 3.5.
The oil filter is a bit of a bear to change, oil filter pliers make the job easier.

The only warranty issue with my 2014 was a leaking door seal. Also the brake rotors are warped and I just missed out getting it in before the 3/36 warranty ran out. Other than that it's been great. Love the drivetrain.

All good feedback. I will go test drive it tomorrow. Currently drive a 2006 2500 Duramax diesel. Tow a boat about 4 times per year. 5000lb utility trailer once per year. Don't really need the diesel, altho it's a wonderful truck and will tow like no tomorrow.

I have the 2012 version of what you're looking at. Love it. I'd be happy to drive one of these for the rest of my days.

Lol. Agreed 100%. The stereo speakers are horrendous! I'm considering replacing them. Did they have to do any mods to the door panels or anything to replace them? Or does it still look factory? Thanks!

EB is a rocket. Would love to hear from someone that has 200k+ on these trucks. Curious how they're holding up.

    I personally couldn't live without a CCLB.

I just bought a 17 XLT Crew 4x4 with the 3.5 and 10-speed. Not even 2K on the clock yet but so far, so good. It replaced a 17 year-old Silverado with 238K and zero problems. Still getting used to the aluminum :lol3

True about the speakers. It helps to change the occupancy setting under the music button and also do about three bars fade to rear.

    2.7 '15 with 40k, zero issues

    I strongly recommend Crutchfield
Pick your year make model trim level and they can recommend tons of speakers that fit without any changes and they even include adapters to fit your specific vehicle harness
Only issue I've had is the main leads from the stereo not the adapters keep coming off especially in cold weather and the front kick panel speakers cut out
Happened with stock speakers too i'll just solder instead of the crimp connector default

You undo one bolt in the door handle under a panel and one behind the door lever itself
Rear doors also have a small easy trim piece
Way easier with a second person to hold door plastic or set it onfolding saw horse so you don't have to undo all the extra wiring if possible
Once I got the hang of it I easily replaced all 4 within a few hours

I don't have optional sub so not amazing bass but a lot better than stock and it only cost me about 250 for all 4 speakers including shipping and duty to Canada

2014 F150 FX4 3.5l EB motor. (Before the roof level cap went on.)

65,000 miles or so, no problems once the crappy OEM tires were replaced.

I'm pretty happy with my '13 and would likely buy another if something happened to it. The stereo is giving me some issues now- the speakers seem to be dying on the driver's side and the controls on the steering wheel sometimes do what they're supposed to, and sometimes do whatever they want. While these things don't thrill me, I listen to NPR most of the time and can hardly tell. If I wasn't so freaking busy I'd schedule a time to have it fixed. Also replaced the shitty OEM tires and brake rotors- though they lasted at least 3 times longer than the OEMs on my GMC.

Toyota hasn't done anything to impress me with fuel economy or bang for the buck since my 2001 Tacoma.
I'll never own another GM vehicle after the GMC I owned before the Ford.
Can't go Dodge since my credit rating is over 650 and I don't fuck my cousins.

So that's that. Buy the Ford, you'll like it.

I've got a 2014 with the 3.5. 30k on it so far with nothing to report other than one recall. My dad has a 2012 3.5 with 50k, his has also been flawless.

I had a 2011 5.0 that I beat like a rental car in the Bakken for 100k miles over 3 years and it also took it like it was nothing.
