I'm kind of annoyed that Yamaha doesn't make anything that interests me right now. Nothing at all.

I've owned eight Yamahas, more than any of the other five brands that I've owned, and I liked every one of them. But the biggest dual sport that they sell here isn't big enough to meet my needs.

C'mon Yamaha, build a decent 450 or 650 dual sport for us!

The F650GS and CS thumpers had it even before that. So did the G650X bikes. BMW has had EFI 650 thumpers for quite a while now.

The OP said of the Japanese mfgrs, Honda, Kaw Suzuki (Yamaha?) who will be the first in the US? I think he knows that Europeans have already done this. Yes ,Yamaha has done this, but that bike does not come to the US.That was how I understood what he was saying anyway.

Not without a redesign. The unicam design of that engine would be costly to maintain if seeing a lot of street miles. Its great for saving weight and making power but the longevity is suspect without pretty expensive top end rebuilds. The 650R would be a much better platform to go FI more so than the 650L or CRF, for true dualsport purposes anyway.
