rode a supermoto'd kx500 in downtown Birmingham, men that was a HOOT.

the guys that ride two smokes around here have more knowledge of the landscape, history, and culture than the other folks. they share knowledge, ride destinations, and memories. they know how to tune their bikes, and aren't easily ruffled.

the bikes are just more fun. Even when I'm the slowest dude there.

The sound, the smell, and the powerband :D

My g/f and I took our RD125 out to mid-ohio, we ran it around for the weekend. Going up the hill towards the entry gates the powerband hit and up we went into a nice power wheelie, weeeee! She was more like :eek1 though.

older post, but then so am I...

two strokes are reminiscent of my youth. nostalgia goes a long way.
simplicity. top end jobs are a joke, they're so easy!
affordability. ever see what a modern 4T top end costs???
    the power band hit.
light weight. sure, modern 4T are pretty damn close in weight... but they don't have any of the above.

Hah,I started racing a spanking new Hodaka Super Rat in 1972,loved that thrill after riding a Trail-90 as a learner bike, since then there's been Bultacos,Yamahas, and then a 1977 1/2 KTM 250 GP and that was that, probably 14 KTM's since then,a few were 4 strokes but the good ones were the 2 strokes.
    250,420,495,then a new 200,then some 300's,more 200's.

    Now there's a 2014 300XCW here all set up like I like.
Best 2 stroke ever by a ways! Button start, idles and chugs around like a 4 stroke that doesnt stall, and then when the mood strikes there's a 46HP hit up on top that will flat bug one's eyes out. 6th gear will cruise easy at 65mph,without any pinging or dinging, just cruises.

Dogs know what is up,if I fire up the 2 stroke the dogs bark and chase like maniacs, barking along with the bike. If I fire up a 4 stroke and diesel around the yard, the dog barely notices, they know. IMG_2840.JPG IMG_2839.JPG

The perplexed expression on people's faces when I pull alongside them on my TDR 250 then proceed to accelerate away in a puff of blue smoke and a little power wheelie.

Here's some more mosquito repellent for ya! 175 cc PUCH twingle running on 16:1 fuel/oil mix. I'm using carefully hoarded 40wt K-2 Kawasaki 2 stroke oil from the mid 1970s, same as in the KD125. Note darkness of fuel in the auxiliary fuel container.
