Why do some Inmates feel compelled to put stupid content in the "Location" section of their profile? I understand not putting their street address, and maybe their city, but if anonymity is a concern, I think that can be achieved even if he lists his state/province.

A poster's location is relevant in many threads to put context to his comments. For example, some guy says he runs 20w50 in a bike that the manufacturer recommends 10w40. His location would be relevant in trying to figure out why he's using the oil weight he is using.

There should be some enforcement of content in the Location section of the profile. No location, no posting.

The secrecy burns my goat for many of the same reasons. Type of gear, oil, local roads and lots of other things would be useful with a location other than: dark side of the moon, or on your mom's couch. Ok the last one is funny.

I've often wondered the same thing. I can see if you have something that is funny, but if your doing it to be ananymous seems a little much on a motorcycle forum.

Well, that's an intelligent answer. You must be a frequent poster in the Jo Momma section.

And good keyboarding skills. Next time, lay off the alcohol before you hit the forums.

    Uhummp ...
A poster could change their location .. making older posts with oil/routes look strange..

A poster could be on tour .. making those post look strange...

Then there are just plain strange posters .. who make strange posts.

I'm more inclined to just say, put SOMETHING there rather than nothing at all. There's something to be said for creativity. What exactly, I don't know, but something. :)

I'm thinking a fear of being found.
Being tracked down for non-payment of alimony or child support are concerns to some.

Don't think the plate number is relevant but the location might be. They also don't tell you what bike they own or are working on. Often the year/model may not be relevant for the original question but as the thread evolves it then becomes relevant. It should be in the first post because many pages later it is the place to look for this info.

I own a few bikes now. I've owned a few more in the past. You want all that stuff listed? :norton:augie Why? So you can 'judge' the reply based on the bike/s I own/ have owned? Some own the bike but get others to service it. Some like me do their own work, including gearbox repairs etc. Sorry but just the bikes listing does not work.
