This has probably been beat to death in this forum somewhere but I tried a search and didn't get much so..
I am helping out a buddy(new rider) change a few things on his new to him 2011 f800gs. Looking for some feedback on a windshield for touring. He's about 5'8" What's the one to buy? I found a brand new Givi for sale on another forum. A D333. Any good. Thanks folks

Now if only there was a way to boil down the 1100+ posts in that thread to a one page summary. I can't keep up with the 65 ride report threads that i subscribed to AND read all that.

Unless you manage to find a poster with your exact build, dimensions and expectations from a screen this type of question/answer is all but useless. Same with seats, except with seats it's even worse because there are many asses but none two identical.

The sooner you realize the above the less stress you're gonna have in your life.

I really like my calsci wind screen. I like wind protection but no loss of field of view.

    I second that ... :deal

lots of variables, and for the most part, not very good return policies make it tough to home in on what is good for a particular combination of rider preference and dimensions + helmet style + bike + riding style + ...

Brush up on your social skills, talk to that fellow GS'r with the xx windshield over at the coffee shop and see if you can swap bikes for a quick ride. Maybe he has two at home that he tried but didn't like.

Remember tho that weather conditions that day may affect your experience. I seen a new rider ditch the BMW Touring windscreen (what, $400?) because it caused too much buffetting. I said that fall weather here sucks for turbulent wind no matter what you have installed. Need a nice day......

    Good Luck.

I disagree. I understand there are many variables and no one can pick your windshield for you but I have already have a much better understanding of whats available. First hand reviews from riders familiar with the 800 is very helpful. Thanks for the posts.
