The bike itself didn't move around much at all. I had four straps holding it down, the two back straps were hooked to the receiver. That being said, the CRF250L is a 300lbs bike, a pig for a 250, but fairly light compared to some of the bigger bikes so your mileage may vary. I do plan on welding angle iron to the bottom of the platform to lock it in place. Right now it is two pieces bolted in the middle with four bolts on either side.

As an aside, I have an unopened receiver mount hauler that I ordered from Harbor Freight.

It didn't make it in time for my trip up to PA so I bought the one from Northern Tool to get me through the trip. If anyone is interested I'd be willing to sell it, otherwise I'll be taking it back to the local store tomorrow to get a return.

Linville sounds fun, probably won't be able to get on the road till 10:00 or so. Will most likely take 67 out of Winston to 268 in Elkin.

I lived in Winston Salem for about 9 months 10 years ago. Great little roads around it.

And you are only about an hour from the Blue Ridge parkway.

howdy peeps, I'm looking to do try out dual sporting a little, and I'm from the Kaaaaaaang area. :lol3 Come on, you know that's how 'eerbody pronounces that 'round these parts. :D I've been a sportrider for years, but am looking to start getting in to a little dual sporting. You could add the hp of all 3 of my bikes right now and they would all still not equal what I'm used to. :rofl But I'm having fun, just picked up a CRF230F this past Dec to play with the kids in the dirt(my 1st dirtbike), purchased a 05 DRZ400SM last year, been a work in progress but almost done, and just bought a '12 Weestrom ADV last week. :evil Who wants to show me some good DS stuff?

I grew up in Stokes county. I just got a dl650 and me friend has a dr650. We have been hitting the back road of Stokes and Surry. I'm a little disappointed that allot of the old dirt roads are paved now.

I have noticed that to, probably has a lot to do with school bus safety and all that. I remember when the road to the top of Saurtown Mountain was all dirt. You just have to venture out farther to find the dirt roads, they are disappearing around here.

Speaking of roads in Stokes... What's up with all the tar snakes on Perch and Trinity Church Roads? I don't remember this being an issue in prior years, but it's gotten pretty slick lately.
