How long was that ride? I've debated doing a run from NYC to Alaska, that would be a interesting ride.

I was planning to make a 17 day round trip. Thinking I was through the worst of the storm I continued on and just an hour after this picture I laid it over going slowly up the next mountain and found out the road was all but closed on the top with due to the storm that would drop 18" of snow overnight. I did try to turn around and head back down but the road was slick enough that I didn't want to risk dropping the bike again in a down hill lane and have a semi run it over so I pulled it off the side as far as I dared and found lodging with an older couple in their camper while waiting out the storm. They were such gracious hosts and great cooks. Evening entertainment was red wine and Monty Python. We woke the next morning and after traveling a couple miles up the mountain when I didn't see my bike I thought a wrecker that was called the day before had finally showed up to get the bike and had taken it to Fort Nelson. Happy as a clam I made it to Ft Nelson and talked with the RCMPs and they informed me they had a mixed bag of news for me. Good news they had located the bike.....bad news... Sometime during the night a plow came through and lobbed my bike in the ditch and my trip was over. My bike was still in the ditch buried in the snow. I called a friend and he drove my truck 1100 miles straight through to rescue both myself and the bike and we burned the asphalt getting back to the house so I could then fly to KC for my inlaws 50th anniversary.

Insurance took care of me and I replaced the K1600 with a R1200GSA.

But that is not what you asked so back to the question. A trip up here can easily be done in 14 days or less if you only wish to ride for the sake of riding. Seeing our state as well as BC and the Yukon will add many days to that time and I think the people that enjoy it most plan for a month minimum.
