oh jeezum.... I had no idea... and it sounds as most of us did not....

you know, we come and go on this forum, somehow we get to "know" the names and we/you all become something alive and real, by the postings, the attitude, the vibe, and Robert, you are a good one, in my limited view of this ADVWorld.... we have never personally met, and we are not likely to do so, but I count you among my online "friends", one whom I admire and respect....

...and so I, along with all of us in this crazy mix of our world of bits and bytes, wish you the VERY best, we send our love, bro.... and prayers, and whatever each of us wants to call it, but we're with you... you can believe it.

    Peace.

...and thank you for being you.

A good friend of ours read everyone's post today to Robert and he smiled and commented the best he could. I think you all have done wonders to make him feel better. Thank you so much.

A long time ago, OK...4 years ago, a nice man took pity on my noober soul and sold me a set of cylinders and pistons that have been the heart and soul of a certain little BMW named Jezebel. Every other part of that moto has failed and been rebuilt, but that odd looking powerplant just keeps chugging along. I remember agonizing over my commitment to keep plowing time and money into that pile of black, German junk, but thanks in large part to Roberts' calm assurance and steady guidance, that bike will roll on into the unforeseeable future. I always have not wanted to embarass Robert with a public thank you, but perhaps now is the time. Thank You my friend, for your generous help and freely offered expertise.
    Be strong and be well.
    Your friend,
    Dan Edgcomb

I was NOT kidding about the hemp/marijuana oil. There is every chance he can still save his own life! Please take the time to investigate this cure and to pass on your new knowledge to Robert. Also ... investigate using "coloidal silver" in a nebulizer. Some of the BEST cures still come from nature and NOT from a pharmaceutical laboratory!

I am sad to hear this.

When I bought my '78 r100 in Santa Cruz and rode it back to seattle, I posted about it here, and got a pm from wirewrkr asking if the serial number of my bike was such-and-such. He had it right, and it turned out my bike had passed through his hands at one point. He still had some parts for it (tumbler assembly for the locking gas cap) and he sent them to me. He also gave me some great advice about the dual disk upgrade I eventually did on the bike.

I hope things turn out for the best, whatever that is.

Oh, and my girlfriend thinks you're smoking hot, Robert  (showed her your pics on your website)
Forgive me if that seems wildly inappropriate- I just thought it might make you crack a smile.

I'm dying here for an update on Robert's progress. Back in MD, about 15 years ago, I went out to his family's old farm house to do some parts trading with him. I can't even remember what the part was, but there was something he was going to let go of, because it was something I needed. He said "I was going to use this on one of my projects, but you really ought to have this, because I like you. I don't like many people, but I like you" That really stuck with me. Partly because it's kind of an odd thing to say, but also because it made me, an awkward young fellow, feel pretty good to have this cool guru type as a friend. At that time, I was about two years past a scary point in my life when I had Hodgkin's disease. I sure do hope he's going to get better.

As said before a good day - just gone bad. We are sending hopes and prayers your way Robert.
You are one of the reasons I enjoy the airheads so much - Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

About four years ago I sought Robert's advice about repairing airhead gauges. I had questions about locating parts, what to charge, along with other issues, and he told me about his difficulties sourcing parts for his wire harnessess. I think he has an easier time of it as his parts are still available, though difficult to find some times - while mine just aren't available. But he helped me get started with his advice and encouragement. Over the years we've swapped a few parts and he's had stuff I've needed sometimes.

As a matter of fact, I need one of those centerstand repair kits - so NO CHECKING OUT IS ALLOWED!!!

    ya hear me?!!

I spoke to Robert's brother tonight. Barring some kind of miracle, we are going to lose him. Keep good thoughts going his way, and keep posting here.
