Sorry to hear about your ankle and the broken bike. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the tracks. I tried to include some nice shore roads as well. From the looks of the video you guys had a blast on them. I'd never seen the water that deep on that stretch west of Gogebic. Wet but firm.

I also rode the Keeweenaw Route that Cannonshot posted a few weeks back over the long July 4th weekend! My group took 229cc Chinese dual sport bikes through the whole thing, went at our own pace, and had great fun!

Agreed, the ride was quite wet! We wound up in 8 in to 1 ft of water in some spots which made crossing the drainage pipes all the more exciting! I wish I had gotten that on video but didn't want to take my hands off the handlebars...

Here are some pics and video (facebook link), more to be dumped into the same link over the next day.

Very cool. Thinking about that route someday too, great to see some pics.

And thanks again to Cannonshot for making all his tracks available to us.

I guess I should share too. My brother and I ran Cannonshot's "Chute Pond" tracks on Saturday. Really fun day trip, perfect weather. Huge variety of terrain from sand/mud/clay/hardpack/tall grass/gravel/pavement/etc. Some really dry/dusty and some really wet areas (see 3:37 mark). Also some really seldom-used sections on this route so there were some trees down and other obstacles that made it really interesting.

Some GoPro footage my brother took, hope the link works:

Nice video Kevin. Thanks Cannonshot for the tracks. Had a great ride, even though things didn't go quite to plan. IMG_20170625_091613625.jpg IMG_20170625_062226108.jpg IMG_20170625_062226108.jpg IMG_20170624_205042209.jpg IMG_20170624_205042209.jpg IMG_20170625_081834984.jpg

Week after next I might be making a brewery ride through Wisconsin, part of Iowa (Decorah) and Minnesota. If you have any suggestions on roads to ride I've not been in the area in many years. Although I've got a few breweries in mind, I'm open to suggestions there too. Thanks.

Shep, could you include a screenshot of your approximate current route? Throwing something rough together on google maps is fine too, I'm just having trouble envisioning where you'll be exactly.

Also what bike are you taking?

Do you care if the roads are gravel or paved?

Sorry, missed a couple responses. I'm coming from the south. I was thinking of hitting New Glarus first. I have a friend in Madison. Then head over to Decorah, Iowa for Toppling Goliath. After that maybe north to Surly in Minneapolis, then East and back south. No particular route...I rarely plan details. There is an alterior motive to traveler Wisconsin aside from some great breweries. I spent about 11 years of my childhood riding through the State with my parents as we traveled to Canada on fishing trips. So I have lots of memories of passing through many of the towns like Spooner, Bloomer Eau Claire, etc. And I haven't had a good Walleye sandwich in years, so I'd love to have one...or 3.

I was planning on taking the Super Duke, so I'd prefer no gravel, however, I just picked up a Tiger 800XCx and wouldn't mind some exploration on that bike in the future. One fly in the ointment; my wife is wanting to take off with me, but she does not ride. If that happens, well, it won't be a bike trip!

There are incredible roads between New Glaris and Spring Green. I told my gps no highways and it was incredible. Take hwy H out of New Glaris and go from there. Lake Louie brewery is close to Spring Green. Freddy Valentine’s Public House in downtown Spring Green is worth stopping at for lunch or dinner or a cold one. The Super Duke would be a riot on those roads. Stick to roads with names or letters.

The Brew Pub here in Mineral Point is worthy of consideration, as are our Iowa County alphabet roads between here and the Wisconsin River. You really can't make a wrong turn in this part of the state.

I'd take it easy on the corners when on the western side of the state. The storm we had last night pushed a lot of junk onto roads closing many From Galesville down to Prairie Du Chien, WI. On my way into work I went by mud, logs and rocks that ranged in size from golf balls to microwaves pushed onto county roads. We are getting more rain starting tonight lasting through the weekend as well.
