Hey, I was hoping that this would be the summer that I reconnected with the gang, but things got kinda' interesting. I was doing a track-day on August 5 at NYST and my enthusiasm exceeded my skill. I have been spending August puttering around the house and rehabbing my broken radius and middle finger. I am hoping that I will be on a bike again at the end of September. Anyhow, I fared much better than the poor old ZRX. The sliders dug into the ground and broke the engine mounts. The bike must have tumbled quite a bit. With the other damage, it was too much trouble to re-build. I am in the process of parting it out. There are a bunch of goodies that I am finding buyers for.

Brenda was disappointed because she likes riding the ZRX two-up on occasion. So, the green light was given to find another. I took a drive to Plattsburgh and picked up this very nice blue ZRX a couple of weeks back. I have started swapping parts for the ones I want to keep from the old bike. Anyhow, that was my summer vacation story.

I love those bikes, and that blue is nice, but I'm partial to the green!

The green ones are faster. I'm probably better off with the blue!

I've missed you all. I pretty much had reserved August for motorcycle antics too. Well, life is good and I have started playing a few gigs on saxophone just recently, so I really can't complain. I may be getting a bit long in the tooth for riding fast, heavy motorcycle around a race-track. I am really going to re-think that part of the whole thing. A 250 or 300 might be a much better idea for me.

Not right now. I have been playing with a good blues band from Rochester called the Coupe De' Villes. They are playing mainly in Rochester these days. http://www.coupedevilles.com/events.php

    Thanks for the link.
Maybe a road trip east sometime?

    Remember

You can get hurt on a 250-300 just as easy as a big bore

That sucks, Did you have collision?? Many policies only exempt coverage to "timed speed contests" track days are closed circuit, but not "timed" and considered training by many policies. Take a look at the policy!

Heading to NYST myself on the 25th.

Bummer about the crash. I like the blue one better :D

Coupe De' Villes have been around a long time, I've seen them a few times. Maybe I'll go to the Sticky Lips gig on 9/30 and say hi.

I'll let you know if I am playing. I have had a bit of a hard time getting my right had around the baritone saxophone that I play with the Coupes. I did a couple of shows last week by taking my brace off. I kind of paid for it the following week. I'm doing PT on the hand now. That is already helping. I can play the smaller instruments reasonably easily. Today I have a gig with a big band down in Watkins Glen for the Vintage Grand Prix. I't some kind of private party. Should be fun. I'm also playing with the Diana Jacobs band at Gelnora Winery on Sept 17 for their Leaves and Lobster event. http://www.glenora.com/Events/Leaves-Lobster-on-the-Lawn That one looks like lots of fun.

No collision on the bike. It was inexpensive when I bought it back in 05. This year it was worth more in parts than intact. I am not going to to do too badly parting out the bike and spares that I have accumulated over the years. My general rule is to only buy bikes with cash. I really don't like having any debt for hobbies. I've already swapped my Bitubo shocks and a couple of other things over to the new blue bike. The pipe, pods, jet-kit and battery re-location stuff are also direct swaps. Being a 1200, it already is a bit more powerful than the 1100 was when stock.

I have a set of ZX11 cams, double valve springs and ZX11D ignition box in the green bike that will go to someone doing an 1100 project. They don't swap to the 1200. That person can just buy the head and easily do a swap when they are putting things together.
