today, Friday 10.20.17, is the official start of:

    Woodpile/Motorcycle Picture Contest Fall/Winter 2017

The winner - chosen by votes and comments - will receive a book called:
"Norwegian Wood: Chopping, Stacking and Drying Wood the Norwegian Way" mailed to their home in the "northeast USA".
    Yes, the hardback version!
The book is a beautiful book, nicely written with a ton of fascinating pictures, and is the perfect thing to read while you are sitting next to your woodstove.

    Youtube Review:

I will provide the book and you all need to provide the pictures (with your motorcycle) comments and votes. Please comment on other pictures and posts to help me decide. Really negative comments will be ignored - this is supposed to celebrate two things we all love - motorcycles and woodpiles.

    Rules:
    1. Picture from this year of your woodpile and motorcycle!
    2. Description of the wood in your pile - what type of wood are you burning?
    3. Explanation of where you get your wood: scavenge, tree farm, neighbors tree ......
Bonus: Picture of your woodstove, and you or your dog enjoying it.

This is supposed to be a friendly contest of the woodburners and motorcycle riders in the Northeast and the winner will be announced on the day of the first measurable snow in Philadelphia or December 25th, 2017, whichever comes first.
Final decision will be made by me.

BTW - no I can not win the contest.

    Thanks,
    Sno Dawg - Jeff

Cut a load today. Decided I should use the truck to pull it home instead of the Vee...

Just a little ash on top. The rest is red oak. Even better in my outdoor boiler!

    Fantastic Doc -
What is the temperature tonight up where you are? You are working on some nice coals.

Was down in the low 40's. Was motivated by the wood smoke I smelled on the way home from a neighbor's fireplace.

I had a standalone woodstove in my other house that was made by the same company. That house got sold and so we put one in this house. We are recreational wood burners. A cord of wood will last me all winter, and then some.

Fired mine 2 days ago on wood. Switching to coal tonight since it looks like a few cold days are on tap.

Toddy is a little sad because Bean won't let her lie in front of the stove. 40F outside, 72F inside. [IMG]

    Hey tjxondrz,
That is a fantastic looking soapstone stove! I have been thinking about getting one of those fans you have on the top. Do they really work to circulate air?
