The T1 is killing my soul. Can someone list (any) advantages to american heavies before I give up on this horrible grind?

Maybe it's just casue i've been having such a terrible past few days. It seems that no matter what strategy I take I'm toast, be it assault TD, Sneaky sniper TD, defensive TD, or anything concerning the T1. My once "FIST OF THE GODS!!" 107 seems to have been loaded with off balance rubber shells that will bounce off the back of a loltraktor at point blank, that is if it didn't just magically shoot out of the back of the tank somehow and completely miss.

Punishment perhaps for kicking ass that one time? :cry

LOL, you mean the T1 Heavy?

Make no mistakes when you engage - the hull of a T1 is known as "Big & Squishy," so you want to have only your turret visible to the enemy. You may want to fight having to use that strategy, but it's what you have to use for American heavies from there on up (and they are brilliant for it). Likewise, the T1 and M6 do actually have a strong part of their hulls - the very front. If you engage anything where your hull can't be down, you cannot have any part of your sides visible to be hit.

Now, once you've got that down, it's just the painful process of playing and learning where to hit other tanks. KV's? The first place I finally learned to hit them for damage was the turret-ring. Since then I've learned more, but aim for that if you're confused. KV Derps have an insanely long reload time, so I'll leave it up to you to figure out what to do with those and act immediately after they fire...

And when I say aim, I mean aim. I don't mean swing your barrel in their general direction and hope for the best because you're excited. I'm not accusing you, but man... way too many players out there shooting at nothing in a surprise reaction to getting shot, or being under pressure. Be the guy who hits.

Lastly, once in heavies it's about time you look at skins. Even if you don't install them, pay particular attention to the skins of tanks you might encounter, or ones similar to give you an idea of where to hit. http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dkorean%2Brandom%2Bwot%2Bskins%26hl%3Den%26prmd%3Dimvnsfd&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ru&twu=1&u=http://www.koreanrandom.com/forum/topic/1399-cvetnie-shkurki-s-zonami-probitija/&usg=ALkJrhgGaWQif3ofszUMlu8J6mwQ1_1T6Q

I don't know which of those work with our current patch, so you'll have to read up on the threads about them. Some skin sets include down to tier 5, many don't.

I no longer use hitzone skins, but I did for about three months a while back, and it helped.

Oh I aim, even wait for the accuracy ring to fully close. I usually try to track them first (especially if they're sideways to me) and then go for hull shots, drivers windows, commanders cupolas and such... and of course if i'm lucky enough, anywhere on the ass end.

IT just seems that lately my shots have been going everywhere BUT the center portion of my aimer.

The only time I do panic shots is when I'm backing away from a 1-shot enemy. Or when i accidently run into an unseen one around a corner. But usualyl they fill up my whole screen and a point blank 107 shot = dead or lots of damage. Unless I miss. Somehow.

Sounds like you're a sound player. Maybe they nerfed it, or you may have lag or computer rendering issues?

So I played a little of the 7.3 test yesterday.....used my free gold on the test server to buy a US T-34 heavy.

I really don't need to spend another $50 on this game right now......:deal

I gave up on the VK3601 last night. I've found the German tanks too fragile. I've had my engine destroyed almost every battle. I've taken side shots to the front drive wheels (the only part of me exposed) that tracked me and destroyed the engine, WTF? The engine is in the rear looking at the schematic. Most every hit gives me a laundry list of broken modules and dead crew. So I sold the POS and bought a HellCat, hell yeah! This is more my style, if it's going to be made of paper at least be fast and carry a 90mm stick.:freaky

Good move. When you get the long88, it'll be 'pop goes the tank'

Is that one different that the 88 the 3601 gets? It didn't perform as expected.

Just had my best game ever in my M7.
I was #3 from the top. Had 3 kills and we were down to 2 arty, 1 pz38 and me.
6 on the other side including 2 heavies a Marder, 2 arty a Med and something else(I was busy).
I got the 2 heavies and the the pz died spotting the arties and Marder, but I knew where to get them.
Killed 1, Our arty got the other, then I headed to their base because we were down to 1:30 on the clock.
Spotted the med and another and killed them.
Now we were at 1 min so I couldn't cap.
Found the Marder a few sec later. Took some shots on the run and let the arty get him.
After the Heavies, I don't think I stopped for a shot once.

The 6 pounder is awesome for that. Wish it did a little more dmg, but I guess that wouldn't really be fair.

You're a better medium driver than I then. I loved the M7, but wasn't overly successful with it. My win ratio with it was just terrible.

    --

Just bought a KV-3 after finishing-out the SU-85B (finishing it by researching the SU-85 to have it ready when I feel the need, then putting the crew into the barracks and selling the "B").

I now have a KV-2 and KV-3 on both accounts... just waiting for the change-over to get whatever we get and to make use of the extra slots on my main account (only have... I think 17 tanks/slots on that account, lol)

    Nice, just spotted this thread.

I'm Cz6 in the game...probably don't play it as much as some of you guys though.

I'd like to think I'm pretty good with a Medium.
Up until a month or so ago It's all I played.:lol3
I had actually been getting a bit discouraged with the M7. MM had been dumping me into matches where I was near the bottom. The 6 pounder has good penetration, but at a max dmg of 75, you aren't going to kill anyone quickly.
I had resigned myself to running around tracking heavies and TDs.

The M7 has always been a good money maker for me. I don't make a ton in any given game, but It has a steady profit due to low repair and ammo cost.

My win ratios in my TDs are better, but it isn't a fair comparison since I have 650 battles in the M7 and only ~35 battles in the TDs.

Some feller in a Jagdpanzer said an Easy 8 is NOT a tank destroyer. I was up on the east side of Sand River sniping away with the binocs and camo net, 100% crew, and rammer. It's less than 3 seconds for a reload. I makes a wonderful TD!

I usually sit for a couple minutes, snipe at scouts and them add my gun to the winning thrust, or wait and defend the flag if it's turning to crap. You see a lot of Med drivers heading to the front right away. And die right away.

Yesterday on mountain pass I killed a scout, a scout med, then went after an IS they had pinned on the glacier. The mediums were just holding back, waiting as a TigerII was trundling up, they wanted him to finish off the IS. I came up at his side hit him 8 times destrying him, went to cap and destroyed the remaining T28. That was great fun.

    The T20 medium is NOT a moneymaker:cry
