I've been following this thread for awhile and I'm glad to see you're on the mend. Good luck to you and I hope you keep making good progress. The hard Northern Winter gives you plenty of time to concentrate on getting better-inside. Regards.:clap

Laurie, it is good to hear from you. Yes, the note you received is right. Little steps over time is what it takes to get better. Keep on doing this and one day you will wake up with this nightmare behind you.

Listen to your friend, those are words of wisdom.

Stay positive and you'll make it, you're half there already anyway!

I have to say being able to walk is a wonderful thing!!! Made it to 100% weight on my right leg yesterday (I felt so good Christmas Eve when I got up that I decided to try it a day early - was originally scheduled for Christmas Day). So, today Doug and I went for a walk on the plowed snow, complete with ski poles so I could assist my balance if necessary. Just measured the distance: 0.95 miles. Hurray!!!

AND, after the walk, I requested to go into the motorcycle shop (haven't been in since the accident, mostly because I couldn't get to it on the dang crutches). Sat on Doug's Ducati (because it has the lowest seat of all our motorcycles) and looked forward to the future!

Getting closer all the time! :clap

The self healing human body combined with modern medicine is a miracle! I am so happy that you not only are walking but that you got to sit on a motorcycle and dream. It is okay by the way to make motorcycle sounds when you are sitting on the bike, just make sure only Doug is there to hear you (others may worry).

What a story...and being able to walk again must feel so amazing!

Are there any hospital bills they are sticking you with? What about the waste of life that hit you? Anything going on with that?

SO glad you are pulling through this! It's new year and if you want to ride again, use that motivation to be stronger than ever:clap:clap:clap

Lots of forward progress... I had doctors' checkups last week back in Billings, and received, for the most part, really good reports. There are a few things that will require additional attention, but I was expecting that. But, my orthopedic surgeon said "Go ahead and do what you can... your surgery is healed."

I actually have been out classic (cross-country) skiing a few times and that was a huge step forward!!! Makes me feel better mentally as well. And I was spinning on a recumbent stationary bike yesterday. These are both major steps in our plan to get me back on a motorcycle.

Also trying to get going with working again...

Congratulations on an amazing and inspiring recovery - truly encouraging to those of us struggling with health issues and looking forward to (hopefully) getting back on the road and back to all kinds of other things eventually. As others have said, You GO GIRL!!:clap

I was wondering how things were going for you.... and sounds like it's going great!!!
Cross-country skiing should improve balance and coordination.... all a plus for getting back on the bike... not to mention the physical benefits.

Good to hear. And isn't it a great feeling when you can get back on your own two feet again? :clap
