New to me. Only 700 mi. The owner has 20 bikes and never road it. He thought it looked gnarly so he bought it. Totally stock. What would you, with your infinite wisdom, do to this bike. I want to do no harm. It is truly a special bike. I want to protect the bike, and secondly, myself. I rarely do over niters and when I do it would be extremely bare bones packing. I do day rides. Paved to get to more dirt. 75%/25%. It does not have Akra's. I, fortunately, don't really have a budget. If something's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. I really appreciate your advice. Thank-You so much in advance...a fellow bike addict.

Best mods on my SE are:
    - Scott's damper, brp upper clamp
    - adv tank ( although I would do Cjs instead)
    - de smog, open single exhaust
    - hdb hand guards
    - black dog skidplate and side stand relocator

Racks and stuff are your preference, I am goi g to gear down as well since I am more of a fifty/ fifty rider on it.

Cool bikes, great stock, just need to be a little louder and have longer range.

I'd take the bike straight to the dirt and crash it immediately. Get it over with so you can spend freely and ride unafraid. It's the only way you'll ever truly experience and enjoy this bike. A 950SE without a scratch is like Snoop Dog with Donald Trumps hair -- it just ain't right.

"Dr_Bean" fuel pump mod. My se had only 4k miles and the points that trigger the pump were misaligned and about to fail.

I heard that bike is a piece of crap. Do yourself a favor and get rid of it. Better yet...I'll take it off your hands just to save you the hassle, the time and money. I'm only offering 'cause it's the holidays and I want to do something nice. No? Well, keep this tag just in case you change your mind.<label for="rb_iconid_27"></label>

Windscreen off a supermoto... Since it sounds like you're going to do alot of pavement. Read up on the voltage regulator relocation tip, since it's current location on the bike causes it to overheat and phase out. Put a cooler thermostat to help circulate the bike. Aux. fan kit to flow air off the motor since these motors are known to run hot.

Relocating the side stand off of the motor case and also do not use the skidplates that mount to the case.

Otherwise these are fantastic bikes for what they are designed for... adventure touring at it's best.

What is this auxiliary fan you speak of? The SE comes with two, is there another?

First thing to do is make sure its prep'd correctly considering the number of miles on it and that it has not been ran much....

    then...
    steering damper (EMIG or Scotts)
mufflers (I like the WINGS mufflers)
tune suspension to you and your style
factory KTM rally pegs (the wide ones, no pivot etc)
    tune jetting for you elevation/use
    de-canister/SAS
    upgraded skid plate

Would throw in there the side stand bracket in case you do plan to ride it off road this would greatly reduce the possibility of the engine case breaking.

Of the entire list Skidplate would be first thing if you are going to actually ride it in the dirt.

thanks for all the input. i meant 75% dirt, 25% paved. i did propose. what can i say, i'm a bike nut job. i'm sure i will crash and scratch it up. spoke with craig this am at cj designs. that guy is SO smart. i'm not going to ride this thing and not crash or something. i fall down all the time on my 350 and 530. i laid my 990 down in october going backwards? on the white rim trail in moab! i have not fallen down on the multistrada though--i'll stick with pavement on that bike. signed...a serious bike whack job. thanks again for your advice, humor, and smarts. keep it coming!

Two Charlie&#8217;s, one in US one in Blighty. Weld86 makes the Terlingua design reinforcement brace and a fine skid plate. My relocater doesn&#8217;t bolt into the engine case.

I&#8217;m amazed that you&#8217;ve found a virtually new SE, we thought we&#8217;d seen the last about a 18 months ago...they are as rare as rocking horse poo, especially here in Europe.

it was hard to find. not really advertised. i had no real competition to buy. i'm sure i would have been outbid. i am in love with the bike! my farkle/to do list is 35 items long! so far! it is winter time. please keep comments coming. as the other charlie told me if his bracket failed and the bike was damaged, that would be the least of your worries. skid plate is also out of this world. much bash plate envy in Moab. i do have a bike problem/addiction. i really want the 1190r. plus i love all my bikes and can't part with any of them.

It's the bad weather and island bound inbreeding. I ended up marrying my cousin because my sister is a lesbian.
