I have the silly notion I'd like to buy an old italian single. 250cc or less, thinking mostly of a guzzi like a airone, but open. Anyone know of anything out there?

Also anyone had the experience of buying a bike in England and having it shipped here?

    Jeff

I do have a very nice africa twin that I will probably sell to help finance this so a trade is possible too!

I vote for a condor due to the cool factor. They can also be had pretty cheap in Europe. Aerone's don't have rifle carrying brackets.

Here's my 250, modest power but runs well.

They came with the alloy rims which is pretty cool. There is an active Wards riverside group on Yahoo and parts are still available here and there.

Hey that's a pretty neat bike! I sort of have my heart set on the guzzi, maybe a gilera, parilla or ducati. It's the panache of those classics I guess.

Another option is the Harley Sprint line - 250s and 350s which were made by Aermacchi in Italy.I used to have a 350 and often think it would be fun to get another one.

There's a few bike shops in the UK that specialise in importing old German and Italian bikes, it's easy to go over to Italy on a raid with a big box van and come back with some very exotic and cheap classic bikes after a quick browse on Italian EBAY for instance. Or this German site is very good for old Beemers - http://www.autoscout24.de/moto/home.aspx

This UK dealer has quite a few old Guzzi/Ducati singles http://www.dimarino.co.uk/ and may export for you?

Best bet would be to find a dealer in Italy maybe.

Now this really appeals to me a 1959 Parilla 175 Sport Special. Sold for $7600.

Condors aren't that rare over here (Holland) I know a place that has over 150 of them for sale.

The condors are neat but not really what I'm interested in. A little too utilitarian I guess. Here's a bike in Italy that I'm looking at.
