Can any of you GPS Geniuses tell me why Basecamp cannot find this address? 3 Linden Grove, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland DG1 2QL, United Kingdom I've also put it in as: 3 Linden Grove, Dumfries, Scotland DG1 2QL, United Kingdom 3 Linden Grove, Dumfries, DG1 2QL, United Kingdom 3 Linden Grove, Dumfries, Scotland DG1 2QL and also used "search" with post code, with no success.... have also used postal code with no space: DG12QL and yes, I am using Europe 2018 latest download.. z
Maybe leave out the comas between the location units? E.g. Linden Grove Dumfries Scotland DG1 2QL or one of the other variants you tried. But yeah, WTF is my usual response also.....
My guess is that it's because it's not a street address but a postal address and postal search sucks in BC.
Hey Zigy... Chuck here I did a little research and found that Garmin City Navigator 2018 Europe doesn't have any detail on that neighborhood, so it doesn't matter if you use Basecamp or Mapsource... it isn't there. Put the address into Google Maps and voila, it pops up. Google Earth: You can get close with City Navigator, but to get specific directions, you'll probably have to use your smart phone with Google Maps installed. Cheers, Chuck (the Yuma/Ensenada rescue dude)
Screw that address. You are on a 30M scale and have 3 pubs to hit. Green Bar, then Shipp Inn, then off to Milan for the victory!
Another reason that, while I have a "real" GPS on my bike, I rely on my iPhone 7S and Google Maps. The phone is waterproof enough for rain, and international data roaming is now free with any of the major carriers. If I'm out of a mobile service area, I switch over to maps.me for maps that rely on the iPhone's internal GPS. Only downside is that I have to preload maps into maps.me, but I guess that needs to be done with Garmin as well.
Hey zigyphoto- You've found one of the many limitations to Basecamp. Here's what I do for street addresses and working with BC. I go to GoogleMaps and punch in the address. Right-click on the waypoint and select "What's Here" Then click on the coordinates. That will give you the exact coordinates of the address which you can then copy/paste into "Locate Coordinates" in Basecamp.
