    I absolutely love your rig!!!

Not sure if the wife would ever go for it given what we invested in ours...

Today, I happened to be walking past my rig with calipers in my hand, so I stopped to measure the tread. Up above on Post 154, I said "The Vredestein Snow+ pusher has no noticeable wear" after 7000 miles. This was incorrect. Well, no, it WAS correct since I used the word "noticeable." By that, I mean that you don't "notice" the tread wear.

The Vredestein Snow Plus has 9mm of tread depth when new. Bearing in mind that it's a snow tire with soft rubber tread compounds and not intended to be a high mileage tire.

Anyway, after 7000 miles, it now has 6mm. The tread depth is pretty much the same from one side to the other, so the tire is wearing nice and even with 30 lbs of pressure. Not sure when I will replace the tire, but if I replace it with 3mm of tread, then it's a 15,000 mile tire. If I let it get down to under 1mm, then that's a 20,000 mile tire.

Before I bought the Vredesteins, I know I googled and googled for hours looking for tires. But today, I googled and got a hit for a BF Goodrich All-Season radial in my size (155-80/15) that looks like it would go great on the rig. (click). Is this a new tire? How come I didn't see it last year?

Yeah, that's the same tire I got from Jay when I bought the car pusher wheel. It's made in China by Federal Tire and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it except that it's a summer touring tread pattern which is fine for paved roads but you've seen where I go with my rig. That's why I wanted a more aggressive tread pattern.

The Federal tire that I ran on my R 1150 only got 5700 miles and it was down to the wear bars all around the tire and so I needed to replace it. So it is not as good as some motorcycle tires.

Echoing Claude--yes. In fact, I'd go with the 165 if I had the room. But, the way it is now, I had to bend my muffler brackets outwards just to give me 1cm clearance between the 155 sidewall and the 1150 stock muffler. So that's what I have now--1cm of clearance.

Hola....Yes, had to do the same thing on my 1200GS. Hammered in some of the muffler heat shield near the tire. Have now about 2 cm clearance for a 165/15 Vredestein snow or Nexen street!

I know this is a response to an older post but I am curious if the next tire that was purchased got better wear. Also wondering what type of outfit this went on. Tire wear should be better than that . I suspect a setup issue or a tire that had issues from the manufacturer....more than likely the latter.

I changed to an Arizonian tire because that was something that I could get locally to try, but have only 2,000+ miles on it (165R15 M+S). The tread depth has dropped from new at ~7 mm to now at ~6 mm. I would estimate that I will be getting about 10,000 miles on this tire by the time it gets down to the wear bars. This would be about twice what I got on the Federal tire and probably is okay for a M+S tire which are generally made with softer rubbers for grip on slippery surfaces. I am going to order one of the Vredestein Snow+ tire for my next tire for comparison. What have others with the Vredestein gotten for mileage by the time they got down to the wear bars? For that matter what have others gotten regarding mileage for other tires? My rig is a R1150 GSA with a M72D sidecar.
