'87 or '88? I knew several folks who had 430 WRs or Autos. The last of the "true" Huskys before they became Cagivas. Up here in SE Ohio, they were the bike to have back in the day.

It's an '87. We really had to put a lot of new parts on this thing. Chain and sprockets, swingarm and bearings, repair spark arrestor, new intake manifold, air filter, all the hoses, and parts are hard to find for an older bike. But this bike is super fast and I think it will kill me or at least hurt me badly. Undecided what to do with it...........I thought I might use it on trail rides but this thing wants to go fast.........My friend Brian, who races a 500 Suzuki in the Vintage MX class, says it is competitive..........

Click here for a quick idea. I couldn't remember exactly what extras you have but there's your starting point. It's a great bike, with lots of applications, shouldn't have a hard time finding a buyer, especially on ADVRider.

Don't mind him. Orange has always given him the shudders for some reason :deal

They're both pretty great bikes! But personally for the below reasons, if I could just choose one to take home, it'd be the 690. And, no I don't have much, other than history and an LC4 love, to back that up. I really just get bigger warm fuzzies from that one ha!

Buy the machine for the job you want it to, and the one that puts the biggest :D on your face and you won't go wrong :ricky

I'm not saying looks are what a bike is about. But regardless of price, parts, reliability, functionality, etc etc, if you don't LIKE, bike nothing else matters. If you don't want the bike, it's just gonna get covered in dust. Different things make smiles for different people (for some it's looks, some suspension, some crave HP). But whatever gives you the grin factor, therein lies your choice IMHO YMMV.

Have to sell the 525 then get special permission. You know what I mean. Which would be better off road?

    :huh

That must've been a lot of math :lol3

He is right though, as a matter of practicality, and goodies availability, I'd lean towards that 690 for "off-road" fun.

Both, like anything d/s, are a pretty signifcant compromise compared to your 525 in offroad skills. But they both will give you a bit more comfort and probably be a bit easier to log miles on.

If you want to climb a cliff face, trade in for a 300 or such. If you wanna put a buncha mi in on da-creek tiny dirt roads/quad trails; I'd say you're currently on a GREAT choice.

If you wanna add a lil range, some comfort, better road manners, and luggage capacity, etc then the 690 or 650 would both make great bikes!!!!

Get someone to buy your 400, use that cash to put dp on 690 and keep your 525.

Then you can tell the Finance Officer "look same number of bikes..." have a choice between your 525 and 690 daily, and all is solved! :clap
