Hey everyone. I have installed the BMW engine guards onto my x-ch.

Here is the installation instructions as described by Sonymalc (I hold no liablity) that they did not provide me with.

Do a parts inventory and find out you don't have any instructions.

Start by removing both footpegs as an assembly with there mounts. (The lower bolt on the left side holds part of the kickstand mount, If you remove this with the bike on the side stand it will stay up but you will have a very difficult, approx 5 min time figuring out why the bolt does not want to start when reassembling. This is because the bolt hole in the stand bracket is not centered up with the frame threads. You will need to hold the bike off the stand in order to start it.)

Remove the front engine to frame support bolt. It is a long bolt in the front behind the skidplate. Skid plate may have to removed to remove the bolt but I just bent it out of the way using a suitable tool to bend it. (Cresent Wrench) You will also have to cut the zip tie and work around whatever line this is in the picture. You DO NOT have to take it off.

Now that you have all the bolts removed that need to be removed you can see that the new ones are longer.

Assemble the new engine bolt in this order, bolt, washer, engine guard bracket, washer, spacer, and slide into engine.

Install on threaded side of bolt, (this should be on the right side of the motorcycle) a washer, engine guard bracket, washer and lock nut.

Now fit the engine guard bars to the footpeg brackets with the new longer bolts and loosly fit together. Dont tighten it yet.

Now install the front bar mounts the the brackets using the smaller bolts provided.

I reconmend tightening the footpeg bolts first and then the front bracket bolts.

Now you have succesfully installed engine bars in about 40 min while taking pictures to share with all your ADV riders.

It would seem that these bars will act as great lower frame hardparts like kutch made.

Here is the completed project. Sorry for some of the bad focus pictures.

I thought the TT shift lever had the bolt the other way around. (but not sure either).

It looks like these would fit in tandem with the Hepco Becker crash bars?

Would you have a link to where you got them? I looked on the BMW Motorrad USA site and was unable to locate them. I assume they will work on the country as well. Thanks for the pics.
