Sounds like if you can avoid wrecking or selling the '09, everything should be fine.

Well I have figured out what NOT to do as for wrecking the bike. I went from a much lighter(by comparison) KLR to an 06 XB12X. Then I also had a dizzy spell while riding and went down. I bought an 09 XB12XP In 2009 but ran into some financial issues so I had to sell and take a huge loss but it went to a fellow inmate that was looking for that exact bike so I was happy. I meant bearing issues, front fork issues ECM issues stuff like that.

There are plenty of Ulys out there over the 18k mark. My 2008 Uly XT is at 27k right now and just seems to run better/smoother the more miles I put on it.

All years of the Uly have the same basic weak spots: wheel bearings, front brake pulsing, ECU placement, poor electrical grounds, engine heat on right leg.... I must be missing one but can't think of it right now. A quick search over on badweatherbikers.com will set you up with all the info you need on the Uly.

Since this is the picture thread....here's one from our Indiana Covered Bridges trip last summer:

frontiercat, are the mounted panniers Happy Trail models, their website doesn't show their panniers as having the substancial outside bevel, as seen on yours and how good was the fit of the mounting racks on the Uly? And further, what brand and model, is the decent sized tankbag you've fitted ? :bueller

They are Happy Trails. I just looked at the HT web site. The panniers I have appear to not be on there any more; they were called Owyhee though....

The racks fit fine on the bike. Honestly, it was one of the best investments (aside from the EBR ECM).

The tank bag is the Buell factory bag I bought with my 1125R a few years ago. They are rather pricey now, but can occasionally be found on e Bay....

Invisible monster that was the kind of info I was looking for. I could not for the life of me remember BWB website. This Uly I am considering has had the comfort kit installed. That's one issue out of the way.

Bought it on 1-7-13, with 13,000 miles and the last two of the VIN are 13. How cool is that?

I'm not sure if I've posted on this thread or if I've just been lurking.

Getting my XT farkled to my liking slow but sure. Underseat bag from eBay came in yesterday(to find out I already had one). Got a backpack and some other goodies coming in the mail soon. Meeting up with a guy this weekend to get a tank bag and triple tail bag and when searching eBay last night found a Zumo 550 that's reasonable. Then found out my wife's cousin works at the place that's selling it :deal
