    I love it. Any more closeups would be apreciated. I wonder whether I can build something similar for a kl250 sherpa.

    Theres no reason why not...
    just keep in mined the mounting points
    have to be under the centre of the bike
    in line with the wheel centres...
    car on the right side would be easyer
    as you don't have to clear the chain...

    G`Day I made a leaner on my R100RS .Ditched the limiting rod. Made a stop on sidecar frame to stop left hand fall on bike,and a chain to hold bike from touching ground for right side . Works so well.Been up very rough dirt roads bike handles better than solo_On road I can hold off most solo`s through the corners. Max

    I love your build! my only question is how is it to ride? I rode my hack as a leaner (just around the house) before I got my struts built and it scared me to death. And I didn't go over 15 MPH. It just felt grabby and wanted to pull and lean when I wasn't ready, and I also felt like I was going to snap off my right ankle when I stopped. Your side car was designed to lean so im sure it is much better, I was just curious. Thanks!

    yes i'm sure it was a hand full...
    when your unit is standing the car would pull the bike over towards the car as your mounts are
    to the side of the bike... where if you look at where my car is mounted.. in a direct line though the
    centre of the bike the weight from the car is dirrectly down.. the bike will stand up right by itself
    when parked "till someone knocks it"
    the other thing that happens when turning the car steers in the direction you are going.. As the
    front mount point is higher by 80mm than the rear so as the bike leans it pulls/pushes the front of the car
    across more than the rear..turning the whole car into the corner..front mount being higher than the
    rear it has a longer arc radius than the rear for any lean angle of the bike...but if the car goes over
    a bump or drops into a hole it goes up or down straight with no turning/steering efect...
    The steering only happens when the bike leans moveing the front mount point ferther away from
    the bikes centre line than the rear mount..

    So you can't mount a leaner off the side of the bike as it will try and make the bike lean towards it
    the heavyer the car the worse that efect is... you will be always fighting it to keep the bike up right..
    Imagine putting all your weight on one foot peg.. the bike will fall towards that side..

    I can sit on 100kph "60mph" with no probs... tight corners can be a issue as you can run
    out of lean on the limiting strut... just slow down and alls good...
    On gravel roads start to turn in ..then a little dap on the rear brake kicks the rear out pointing the unit in the direction
    of the corner..fun fun fun...

    I'm making a rear rack for my Tornado.. Can I post some photos of it here?
    I do also have plans of making a bashplate with a washing machine drum (Inox steel) :evil

    Well, thanks Pete!

    So, I'll hijack the thread with this..

    I've made the rack with lots of help of my sister's husband (Actually, he did most of the job and I helped) although it's not finished yet, here are some pics of it..

    He lent me his angle grinder, so I took it for grinding the welds.. And also, I used it for cutting the files of the cross (I know they are pretty bad cutted, but hey, I learned to use the grinder a week ago, I do what I can, hehe!) The missing spaces between the files will be filled when we do the final weld..

    The idea of it was taken of the NX 250 rack, if anyone is interested, I can measure everything and post the sizes here..

    We have to weld a little more yet and also do some holes for ropes, cargo nets, etc.. I'll post pictures as we progress with it..

    40* is plenty... yer wouldn't want to push a nobbley much more.... you tend
    to back of a bit in the corners with a car on...

    40* is a static measurement in fact its prob more when cornering as the car will rise & lower
    as the car suspention lifts/compresses..

    Hi Pete-NZ. One question please .
    what did you use for your limiting strut,The one that is on the bike now in the photos
    I have no idea of what to get for ours .
    I like the idea of adjusting it to how fast or slow it works .
    That should make it better for when the wife rides it in the dirt .


    I too have to remember the sidecar is on there when it is set up as a leaner :lol3 .
    On the way out to take the dog to the beach for swim today I hit a white post on the side of a dirt road with the front of the sidecar .
    They are only plastic posts so no damage .

    Pete awesome build! I see a weight estimate 60-70lbs. Did you have a chance to weigh it in it's final configuration?
    What's the size of the storage space?
    Ive seen a lid that opens over the hack wheel to make a table, maybe you'd consider.
    Thanks for posting! You've got me wondering how this could work on my WR250R....
