So who here KNOWS what years and models are compatable? I am getting that 2001XR400R and would love to know which of the 600 650 wheels will fit right on without the axle swap too. I read somewhere (but can't find it) where quite a few years of the XR600R wheels bolt right up and heard the XR650 wheels MIGHT as well.

Reason is I would like a set of dirt wheels after I have my stock hubs powdercoated and laced to SM wheels.

The front wheel on your XR400 uses a 17mm axle as does the 1993 and forward XR600 and XR650l.

Looking at the parts fich the XR400 has a 17mm rear axle where the XR600 and XR650l has a 20mm axle.

So can you swap the rear if you use the 600 axle?

My 2003 400 has a 650L rear wheel... I remember it being slightly different but it bolted right up

Its my understanding that late model xr250r, and xr600 xr650r xr400 fronts are all interchangeable. Also old xr250l fronts work too, its the first use of that style hub.

    here is a xr650r version

In fact I concluded if it looks like this it will work. there is 2 maybe 3 different castings they used but the intent is the same.
