    I recently got a 91 xr600r that needed a new rocker cover gasket. Saturday I replaced that but when I went to adjust the exhaust valve clearances the Haynes manual I have for it gave the clearances as 0.21mm(.005") now this does not mesh as .20mm is .008" and .005" is .13mm so my question is what is the correct clearance?

    For the sake of being thorough what is the clearance for the Intake as well. The manual says 0.10mm(.004"), these two numbers mesh but are they correct?

    Thanks

    Per the factory manual: :deal

    Intake = .004"

    Exhaust = .005"

    Now when you go to adjust the valves you need to rotate the engine counter-clock wise until you hear a loud CLICK. This will be the decompressor assembly on the cam disengaging. If you don't do this the engine will have a loud click at the right exhaust valve and when you go to recheck it it will be very loose.

    So after the click find TDC through the window on the stator cover and adjust the valves.

    How does the decompresion work off of the cam? I didn't look very hard at the cover when I had it off but I can't seem to picture it.

    I had the decompresion cable disconnected when I adjusted the valves so that part was not engaged.

    The Honda decompressor assy. is on the cam, behind the cam drive gear. Self contained. The handle bar lever just push's open the right exhaust valve to let the engine get over TDC.
