    Hi guys,
Well I just popped the rocker cover off getting ready to install new cam. Could'nt believe the small size of the the cam chain.
The bike has a speedo reading of 5k but I would'nt be confident to say thats all its done.
The bend in chain on tensioner side looks like it has a lot of adjustment to go and wear on cam lobes & rockers appear to be hardly marked, so it maybe reasonably young.
I'm just not happy to see such a feeble looking chain, maybe I'm just old school, having seen plenty of yesterdays motors apart. I have Googled to find a heavier replacement but cant find anything yet other than it has 122 links. I would take the pitch to be of common size but thats yet to be tested. Tensioner runner & forward runner have enough width to take a wider chain.
Is there a better chain available?

i have had several XR650R's 1 i recently did a full rebuild on after 27.000k's on the original timing chain no problems, i haven't heard of and t/chain failures either,

The HRC kit cam with a wider chain and wider sprockets to suit have heard deffering stories as the weather they can still be brought i'm sure honda Australia have no stock be think someone got a full set from the USA a little while ago

easyist way to check chain wear wind to TBC remove the cam chain adjuster letting it fully extend out hten slide it back in til, it should stop well before the face of the adjuster meets the barrel

@ 27k mine was still well in service limit i decided to replace it as i had the motor pulled down, they are a borg warner chain and top quailty, pro X brand is also a borg warner chain the same as honda item

Thanks Slickwill, this will add integrity to the 1x build for sure - an actual genuine floating rotor that Johnny Campbell raced with on his N2 bike! Plus a US spec front brake with the WC bling :)

About 6 day's. I ordered on Thursday and had parts the following Wednesday.

Also got my thrust washer from Honda Aus. What are the chances of them having it in stock, an internal gearbox washer, amazing. Ordered on Monday, had it by lunch time Tuesday.
