d Hey all. Been lurking around here for a while and I'm finally going to look at an xrr tomorrow. It's an 06, street titled, bigger stator, tank and some other goodies. Best of all, the guy is asking under 3k. It has seen mostly street miles and my question is: is it bad that he only changed the oil ever 1000 miles? I've had a few bikes but wanted to see what you all thought about that.non synthetic gn4 with Honda filters.
    Thanks!

IMO oil changed at a 1000 mile .. is throwing good oil away ...street miles its done it easy i would say ......sounds like a good bike

i drop oil every 2,500 to 3,000 kms .. or if i been hard on it ...every 2,000 kms
    filter every second change

Hey, I know I underpriced it. It's a great bike and deserves a good home. Buy it before I give these FF's a shot at it! :D

I've always used non-syn GN4 in my XR400, 20w50 in the summer, 10w40 in winter. 14 years with no problems. I plan on doing the same with the 650R.

While I was riding this week my clutch lever suddenly became very hard to pull and would stick a moment after releasing. It turned out that the bottom of the clutch perch had cracked loose.

Now I need to decide if I should replace it with a stock clutch perch, or if I should try some fancy-dancy aftermarket perch. Has anyone replaced their stock clutch perch before?

If you want real fancy, then the works Connection Perch range is pretty much as good as you get. Bearings in the lever pivot, nylon slip spacers to reduce risk of snapping in a crash and on the fly clutch adjustment dial. Just make sure you get the right one that has the decomp lever integrated. XRs only has the correct one for the XRR.

    Hope this helps!

question for anybody that has had their swingarm off: when i pulled the swingarm bolt out, the swingarm was free to move about, i was under the impression that the "special tool" was required to remove the special castle bolts what are some thoughts on this??

You got the swing arm bolt off or need the tools? You can make your own tools with some sockets and a grinder/dremmel.

    Easy as pie.

It will come out without the special tools. You need them to put it alll back together correctly.

Also, looking at your chain's eating marks in the swinger, you're not related to oztrayan Sean-O aren't you?

The internal castle nut holds the swing arm, the external castle nut locks the internal one. This should hold the swingarm in place without the bolt being inserted.

This is my swingarm, looks similar to both yours and Sean-O's. They are easily repaired.

    Guys,

got a Q: anyone knows of or has SW for drawing wiring diagrams?
Free intuitive stuff if at all possible please, and the use of colours would help a lot. I'm only looking for a picture, not simulations or why.
    Anyone?
