I wrapped mine and it held up quite well. I used numerous coats of the high temp coating made for header wrap under and over the wrap. I still have the stock header sitting around somewhere.

Steve, somebody...help!!!!!!!! before I go mental and my wife thinks I'm cheating on her. So I finished up the bike an hour ago...I'm all ready to make sure oil is flowing to the new CW750 mill and..annnananxxxx is something approximating the noise when I hit the starter button. The whole battery seems to be vibrating. I've checked the starter connections. On the hot side I have the ceramic washers down first. Is there some other trick I'm missing here? Other notes: I put the whole left side case on including the starter gears, but that seemed very straight forward. HEEELLPPPPP! I want to ride this f'er, it's been to long.

wild guess, sounds like weak battery. not enough amps, try jumping it with a bigger battery.

Steve and I talked on the phone, chatted it out, and he seemed stumped. I told him that I had another engine with a starter on it. He said pull that starter and try it, I bet it's the starter. He was right. Now, I have to go out to dinner. Mother F'er.

When CW and I hooked up for me to get the bike he built, we had starter issues as well.... Maybe with a rebuild on the engine, the starter should be gone through as well.

Best of luck!!!! Can't wait to hear how you like the engine!!!!

Clean all the brush derbis out of the starter, clean the magnets and windings with electrical contact cleaner then put a new set of brushs in her.
