I'm about to pull the trigger on HWDB Guards and Rox 2" Risers. It looks like I'm also gonna need to get a longer brake line. Recommendations?

Got the dash mostly squared away today. I might actually have this thing back on the trail sometime soon!

Man, this place is dead today.

Why do you need a longer brake line? I just put some risers on mine (about 1.5") and there's plenty of brake line slack. The clutch and choke cables took a little re-arranging to work, but all is well now.

Now I need to look up the choke cable spec and re-adjust it. I just eye-balled it so I could ride into town yesterday morning.

I've got a set of Galfer steel brake lines and I like them, not much to say about the performance of brake lines....

But anyway, Galfer makes custom lines so they could probably help you out. Here's the link

I dont know that my design would work for most XRLs. It will work for Lane as he has the same forks and top triple as I do. The dash is sandwiched between the top of the triple clamp and the bar clamps. If your top triple is a stocker... it wouldnt work. The bolt pattern would also have to be the same as the billet RM triple on mine.
I'd love to make a few, but I would have to go a different route than I did on mine. I ended up having all the fab work done by friends for free... If I used the local waterjet shop to cut out the dashes, I could have them made, but they'd be pricey by the time I added the key switch, power outlet, lights and such. Gawk! Sitting here doing the math:eek1 They'd probably cost upwards of $200 by the time it's all said and done! More than that, of course if you add in the cost of the computer.

PO put a stainless line on and from all the pics I see it looks to be shorter then OE. 2" of rise is gonna be pushing it. Plus the plastic that covers the line is cracked and broken in a few places, looks like crapola.

I'd agree, I have 2" rox risers and a CR high bend bar with cyrca hand guards. I did add a longer clutch cable because when the bars were at full right hand lock I'd lose and clutch play. Everything else seemed to reach fine with a little different rerouting. I also added a XR400 oil cooler which made me change some of the cable routing and could be why I needed a longer clutch cable.

I see you posted when I was posting :D

    Hey Everyone.
Thanks in advance for some redirection. I have searched the xrl thread index and done a search using the 'search this thread' tool as well. I know nearly everyone doing brake/caliper maintenance has had problems with the 5mm allen headed pins on the calipers, but I can't seem to find the solution I know I've seen somewhere on here. I know a replacement hex headed pin is supposed to be available from someone, but I can't find a reference. Please send me in the proper direction.

I stripped the allen head, drilled it out, and got it out with an easy-out. I cut a slot for a flat head screw driver across the top of the allen head and temporarily re-installed it with plenty of anti-sieze lube on the threads. I'd like to replace this pin with a hex head pin. Please tell me where to get this part.

    Again, thanks much.

You're welcome Red. Your dash looks great!

If anyone else is working on a custom dash, PM me if you want to talk about a nameplate/indicator plate, I can probably help you out. I always enjoy working on cool bike parts, even when they aren't mine.
