Yeah, I've got one of those too...an 81 XS650 Special II that I'm gonna graft the wheels from my 77 XS650 onto for an extra fun Street Tracker. :clap

Apart from pre'74's, all the wheels interchange, got a '74 to finish off, then might do a street tracker with a '78 Standard I've got, :deal

I don't know but I'm soooo glad I found it and rescued it from any sort of potential action of that sort! :1drink

I feel a custodial responsibility for these old bikes...they have so much character and history, so much fun. :clap

Made it back from an amazing first trip to Barber. We rode the whole 500 miles down in 13 hours straight on back roads and did the same thing on the way back. Our 42 year old bikes were not without a few mechanical issues but it made for one heck of a weekend to remember for me and dad and the rest of the group! If you have never been to the museum I STRONGLY recommend it. It is just overwhelming.

Nice! I paid 600.00 for a good runner like that years ago, needed a battery. Then I swapped a bunch of standard XS parts onto it along with some longer Koni shocks, low flattrack bars and a set of 76 spoked/alloy wheels. I didnt spend much but it ran great and withstood abuse very well.
