    Dear friends,
I own a BMW 650 XChallenge. I'm happy with her but my gf, after a trip of 1500 km, had a lot of problems related with the small saddle. I provided to modify the saddle, putting a gel layer, but it was not enough to improve the comfort. The result, after the use and trying, is to think about a new purchase.
SInce that I not like heavy and big bikes, I think a good option could be the 2008 Yamaha Tenere. To be honest I have to tell that I dont like japanese bikes, I think they are very boring. Anyway the Tenere seems to be a good bike as a dual purpose. A bit bigger than an enduro and a bit smaller than a big GS or Ktm 990 adv.
I would like also to compare the Tenere with the KTM 640 ADV, for riding two up and some bag.
Many thanks to all for the suggestions.

I can't really comment on the pillion accommodation of either bike. There is a marked difference in their ability though.
I assume since you are carrying a pillion that you are not doing rough, steep and rugged riding, more roads and open trails. Either bike will do the job.
Best idea is to find an example of each, and sit the girlfriend on the back.

Isn't the new Tenere a Belgarda? So it has an Italian heart.

I would go for the Tenere rather than the 640 KTM. Your girlfriend will appreciate the smoother engine compared to the rattling KTM.

Are you looking at the new XT660Z Tenere or the original XTZ660 Tenere?

I've been riding both, on and offroad.
the XTZ is much more comfortable and is better on road
the ADV is much better offroad
BUT (a big but) since one of your parameters is your spouse comfort, I would suggest the XTZ. the ADV is not comfortable for long rides.

Besides the comfort you'll get much netter range on the 660.
