My buddy and I decided on a day trip ride out over into Spain from France,(using up a Friday)taking the motos with the van/trailer. Weapons of choice...my moto, the new model Yamaha XTZ 660Z Tenere injection and my buddy's moto...KTM 525.

It would be my first trail ride after buying the Yam and I was keen to see how it would perform...it is what it is and I was wanting to see if it would surprise me in any way...Luckily it stayed dry and having the original tyres on would not be a massive problem.

I have a Gas Gas 300EC Ohlins that I use for the more brutal stuff so I knew obviously that this would be a whole different moto.

We left Asson at 0700hrs and headed to Col de Pourtalet and on over into Spain heading to Sarinena where we would ride gravel trails with the odd light easy muddy trail thrown in. We'd ride from Sarinena to Sena and on over to Albalatillo and back to Sarinena where we'd parked the van.

We stopped to take a picture of one of the snow making machines at El Formigal ski station.

    [IMG][/IMG]

We stopped in small car park close by a petrol station and unloaded the clean motos and got changed...in 4c of 'heat' :D

We rode along various damp lanes mostly along recently cut maize fields culminating in the odd trail along by some high rushes...

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

The temperature still hovered around 4-6c...burrrr....

    [IMG][/IMG]

We found ourselves riding south of Sena and along the lanes that skirt the river you can see in the map detail(the Alcanadre)

We stop at a weir to take a picture or two and stretch our legs...

    [IMG][/IMG]

We through this type of scenery

    [IMG][/IMG]

Snort on at a fluid pace standing up only where there's the odd wash out or jump...

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

Even the XT could snort on the best just taking care at the sharper of corners due to the front tyre....other than that very pleased with how quick it can snort on...oh aye...and the sound out of the end cans?... just superb ... :)

Amazing how much that looks like the desert southwest here in the U.S.

And, that Tenere, I sure wish they would sell that here. I'd have one in a heartbeat!
