Looks great. Nothing wrong with 650 Ural, as long as you don’t try to interstate it on the regular. No fear of that happening in Vietnam, the bike is actually perfectly adapted for the needs of a place where serviceability trumps reliability. Keep us posted!

Highly recommended upgrades - "Pizdetz", "Yeb tvoju mat'!", or if that doesn't work, "Hueputen' pizdorvancheskaja".

    Great writeup! :D

Update: After a few short (~20km) rides, I'm thinking I might be able to trust the rig for a day trip. Here that means <200km.

The electronic ignition is WONDERFUL! Even after sitting for 5 days this week while we were in Cambodia, it started right up yesterday on the first push of the starter button.

Tomorrow and/or Monday I'll check all the bolts and connections and synch the carbs (I brought a Twin Max with me last time I went to the US and it's time I figured out how to use it) and then head out mid-week. My cell phone and InReach will be fully charged and at-the-ready, of course.

After the clusterf*ck of the first post here, I'll admit to a bit of apprehension...

    Your imagination.

Meh, no one stands in the middle of the bar and tells stories* about their boring rides.

*At the very least, you'd hope that they wouldn't.
