In Mexico, ask to park it in the hotel lobby.

Yes, the real answer is keep it nearby and inside. You will be amazed where you get to park. I have driven up a flight of stairs and across the lobby to put the bike in a courtyard or corner.

Chains really dont do anything except allow you to lock your helmet or coat through the visor or sleeve (though this is important as well.) I have made very good use of my Scorpio Alarm which signals the remote up to a half mile away. Do the presence option and I suggest the kill option. It is a great light weight way to guard the bike and your bags.
